Thanks Mike that 71 hood looks like what I want. Im afraid of using the lacquer based since it may lift paint without special primer under it. So are you saying that you use the PPG DCC9355 urethane product? This has metallic correct? Is the 30% flattener in the paint or reducer? also what reducer ratio do you recommend and any tips on spray pattern. I want a very light texture.

1.Yes I use that product
2.Check the formula at your paint supplier when they mix it up, they can add metalic if it is not there.
3. Again check with the supplier. The flattening agent you have to get from them. They can tell you how much to add to get to 30% or you can do it. Just make note of what amount you use so you can duplicate it if needed.
4. I reduce it according to the p-sheet. No need to do anything strange with this paint unlike the original organisol.
5.Just shoot it with light coats. If you want more texture wait longer beyween coats and shoot it farther away from the surface. I call it shooting it dry as opposed to wet coats.

I just scuffed the hood on that red rr taped it off and shot it. No lifting or reaction problems and that paint was about 3 weeks old. WAY easier to use than the original stuff.
