Yes I agree, I did that exact thing to find out the secondaries were hardly opening at all on my '28 hot rod. I had the lightest springs available, so there was nothing I could do about it. The car was just too light for the horsepower (built 468 BB Chevy) to generate enough load.
tried that a few years ago and the paper clip moved so secondaries were working
The question is are they opening all the way?
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street
