The mirror in the picture was never available on the RH door, it is a Left side only mirror. The correct mounting location for 68-70 is near where the one in the picture is placed, but that one looks a bit tooo far forward by about 1 inch. From the drivers seat you would be looking behind the wing frame, but the glass will not pivot far enough for the driver to see down the side of the car. So it is really only good for the passenger to see out of.

The 1966 and 1967 mirror was mounted forward so you looked through the wing window at the mirror, then the driver could see down the side of the car and actually use it it to see the right side rear when parking. The mirror was slightly blocked by the wing frame and that is likely why it was moved back on the door.

I have one 1967 and two 1970 b-bodies with the factory RH mirrors and this is how the factory did it.

That's not true my 69 Coronet came from the factory with manual mirrors.
