The 1966 and 1967 mirror was mounted forward so you looked through the wing window at the mirror, then the driver could see down the side of the car and actually use it it to see the right side rear when parking. The mirror was slightly blocked by the wing frame and that is likely why it was moved back on the door.

I have one 1967 and two 1970 b-bodies with the factory RH mirrors and this is how the factory did it.




That's not true my 69 Coronet came from the factory with manual mirrors.




My 68 sport satellite that was was original when I purchased it has the same mirror.
