Scenerio: 2010 Avenger 2.4L, 50K miles, never an issue prior. Going to leave for work, went to start car, it started, stumbled, then stalled rather quickly. Went to try and start again, just cranking. The sound is not normal, like engine just spinning, not trying to start or fire. In the past I had a Neon that broke a cam shaft, reminds me of that sound. Not wanting to be late for work, just jumped in truck. I thought I would check for compression in event of broken timing belt or cam. Next would be check for fuel prssure. A friend mentioned crank sensor. Is there some sort of check for crank or cam sensors? Any other suggestions what to look for or ideas of what could have happened? Also, my old Neon was a 2.0L, which was an interference engine. Is the 2.4L an interefernce engine as well? I know if belt breaks, valves bends in an interference design. Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

Junk is something you throw away just before you need it.
