Yes you could do that. The welding that would have to be done in the 70 location would have to be pretty good. Something like using a brass rod so you could get the correct depth when you plug weld the top, but it can't look like the two pieces are connected, and there will be some filling and sanding that would have to be done because there is going to be some perocity visible from the bottom up. The other issue is the date code that is currently on the K-member (not knowing what it is) is going to be too late for your Daytona. The other issue is that the top shell (or the 69 piece) will have a depression where a steering bracket is located and the 70 does not. This depression would be visible from underneath looking through the left-hand opening at the bottom of the K-member. Basically, if you look at those things and compare the one you actually have to a 69 you will see the difference. Hope this sheds some light. Vance
