Back when Hemi stuff wasn't around I had a Hemi head repaired. It was great for a few months then it opened up again. So I was out the cost of the repair, the machining and then I had to go find another head and do it all over again anyway. Good money after bad, and you'll always be wondering when it's going to open up again.

And this is why you don't weld it... Lock n Stitch, used in automotive & industry for many years, trouble free won't need to remachine the block... They sell DIY kits for reasonable money...

I watched a old boss do that repair 25 years ago. I was amazed.
