I found out what is wrong. At first I hought the rod was not comming in contact with the cam because I could not feel any movement or resistance in the rod when the engine was turned over by hand. Using a borescope I discovered the rod is contacting the cam. The cam does not have a fuel pump lobe. Thanks all for your replies.
