To avoid hijacking the other post, I'm starting this one for a little clarification help..

I'm currently in the middle of a 572, max effort, race only build.. Before dropping the parts off at the machine shop, I was confident in the bearing clearance of between .025-.030..

The machinist agreed with my spec's and did his thing on the new World block.. After picking up the parts, we measured the clearances for both the rod and the mains.. and they came in at .035 instead of the .024-.026 the machinist claimed on the build sheet..

Since the machinist missed a couple things on the block and since the clearances wasnt where we agreed, the machinist took the block back to finish it and I'm supposed to get the call today to come and pick it up..

In the other thread, there seems to be a consensus that the Rods/Mains should be anywhere from .030 -.050 for a big block, aluminum rod, race only motor..

So my question is.. Did I screw up by asking for .025 clearance??
