Woodie, Thanks for the link, Spreading harmonic loads and frequencies are one of the main functions of a Girdle, providing a means of 'cross-bracing' the caps by supplementing thier alignment by using block strength is another benefit.

The girdle steel looks much thicker in the link pictures than it did in Greg's shot, that clears that up a lot. Thanks
