Looks like a strategic move by Holley to move into the Edelbrock AFB/AVS space which a lot of "hobbiest/non-racers" seem to prefer over the typical 4150/4160 style carb. Holleys previous attempts at an AFB style "open top/cast in float bowl" carbs have
never really caught on.
So is this a 500 CFM "small venturi" carb that they get 625 out of with the Goggle style big 3 barrel? I'll wait for the 1000cfm version off the 800 body, I have an 800AVS on my 427 Cobra that I'm extremely happy with on a 500 hp motor where Tractibility on the roll-on is better and a double pumper is maybe not the best fit for.
