Unless a 489 case has had a crush sleeve eliminator installed, the yoke can't be swapped without messing up the pinion pre-load. Chances are, it will still have the crush sleeve.

A 489 case would have a come with a cone type SG if originally equipped. Sure Grips will interchange between cases though, so it is possible to rebuild with a clutch-type.
