Murphy's Law. Sorry, but that's the way it always goes.

Better to wait 'till your next oil change and pull the whole thing apart. Prep the area and weld it from the inside for a cleaner look. I have an idea that the bung might not be very thick on the outside and with a gob of weld spilling over there the drain plug might not get a flush seal.

Check your welding skills by cleaning the outside of the pan and throw some of your used oil in it and leave it overnight. Check for leaks, re-install on car.

It's the long way around, but you'll be glad you did it.
