Never had to replace a 904 band from wear or breakage, opposed to dozens of 727's. Fast idle on startup used to be death on 727 low/reverse bands, to the point we'd park cars to not have to back up with a cold engine.

Even the valve bodies that suggest using a billet low/reverse servo, like an A&A LBA manual V/B, a 904 can still use a stock band.

To the O/P - like John said - you have an issue with the forward (rear) clutch not releasing.
