SM does make a hydro lifter, they are costly.




The only thing it hurts is my pocket book… this experience has already gravely wounded it.

Regarding those lifters, if I'm going to spend that much to make sure I don't wipe a cam, I'd go roller.

I am inclined to agree that running oil properly formulated for flat tappets is more important. Regardless of whether or not I get the cam nitride, I’m going to be more considerate in that area going forward.

For the record, my cam wipe was probably a brain fart as much as anything. I think I had a bum lifter on which I over did the preload. I may never know exactly why it failed though. Just trying to make sure I do it right... the second time through.
