the issue is that it's baking soda. a strong base.

just as a strong acid is corrosive, so is a strong base. the issues I've heard with it is that after doing the blast, you need to give the surface a "neutralizing wash" with a mild acid, then a water wash to remove all the chemicals.

as long as you get ALL of the soda neutralized/cleaned off, you shouldn't have any issues with paint adhesion or longevity.
