The OBD-2 stuff is a bit of a pain but it is doable. I'm prepping an OBD-2 harness from a 98 dakota to put a 5.2 magnum into my 88 jeep with a stick shift. I don't plan on hooking up the check engine light because it's going to throw all kinds of codes at me! Basically the engine controller has 3 plugs on it. Two of them basically go straight to the engine for sensors and injectors and such, but the third goes into the rest of the main harness and links up to the fuse box and such.
