The failure was discussed at length and we're quite certain the rod was hurt when the epoxy let go in the "repaired" #3 intake port of our other set of heads. It wasn't picked up on the teardown, nor would it have been obvious, but it is now! Now we've cracked the head around the guide..... so between four W5 heads we still have two that are "ok"..... actually the one we have out here is going to be repaired, and if the crank can be used again we'll base another build around the 4" crank. If it's not good.... we'll see. Either way I think we'll make a choice one way or another to have some sort of small block up and running by April.
