Not sure how much a kill switch would save you. how mauch h/p does it take to turn the alt when it's charging? 2..3 maybe. Anybody have any real world times? On my old 67 coronet I tried a few things. I disco'd the PS belt..nadda zip, Tossed a Alt belt at the line and still ran dead on 12.90, replced my HEAVY 45lb 15" Cragars w/ 14x5's and bais plys up fron...nadda 12.90. Went w/ Man steering...nadda 12.90. Now then I added 6psi of boost and dropped almost a second off the et and picked up 10mph
Really will make a difference on how the tune up is when you start making these changes... some of those changes should have made a ET change but if the tune up was wrong then it wouldnt show a change... I use to tune it to the best I could get, then tune it to the new change(again the best I could get) then switch back to see what would happen......I'm a firm believer in A-B-A changes/checks...... I agree Mike, thought the same thing. If you're taking a hundred pounds off of a car and see no changes, somethings not right. There is nothing more constant than weight to horsepower.
