The only thing stroke is good for is moving your power range around. The more stroke the more you lower your RPM range.

However bore is more beneficial for making HP. If the bore is small such as 4.100 with a W9 head you sacrifice head flow from shrouding the valve. 4.155" will work but I would go bigger.

but the stroke will help with valvetrain longevity for street duty. x3 on the bigger bore. smallblocks have been small for decades. pull out all the stops.

If it was mine, I'd do a 4.220 x 4.00 447ci.
