The only time your going to see a measurable difference is if the 6 unit is not up to the load needed to meet your motors ignition needs That being said I'm a firm believer in having more than you need on some race parts, feul supply, valve spring pressure, tire bite and so on. I have been using the MSD 7 series boxes and appropriate coils for years on all of my cars
