Most of the time you only want/need to let the solvents flash off in the paints and want to re-caot while still a slight drag to the touch, but not wet.

I never got too excited over Duplicolor, but seems their new paint may be better.

Plasticoat is what I used when I wanted a nocer gloss on a cheap paint job. I almost always spray with a single stage PPG urethane on most of my customers, as it doesnt peel or lift, stay durable and glossy forever, and cleans with just the wipe of a rag, but it aint cheap.
