I've used a snip of vac hose for a half dozen apps & no issues. OE ones are identical ex for a slight groove lengthwise which may b a tooling groove produced when it is mfg'd or it could b added on purpose to let air out as you push it (& the pushrod) into the closed recess so it'll seat better but I've never grooved any of my snips of hose & no probs (I forget the size)
