Everone needs to consider intake port volume when comparing flow numbers (among other things). A 500 CID engine can tolerate some big volumes, but torque will suffer. It just depends on what the application needs.

The Indy heads and a low deck are a natural for headers and hood clearance. For some applications this is important, for others it isn't. I like the low deck block for strength when using a factory block over 600-650 hp range.

The max wedge port opening makes intake selection different. I think the Indy intakes are very good for drag race applications. But from my experience, part throttle will suffer noticably. What would be the best way to go for Unlawfl's application???

Gary, I would consider CR up to high 11's as pump gas for your application. You have enough cam, etc. IMO, a zero deck (within 0.002") and the right size combustion chamber, used with a flat top piston would be the most pump gas friendly.

Power to you!!! LOl
