yes i have done that with a revers manual that would not always get third (1st position) when you got park. 1/16"
to 1/8" 1.5mm to 3mm goes a long way!.

Make sure the leaver on the tranny is tight and not worn as sometimes they will move and it takes a fair amount of pressure to move it gear to gear!
