I am thinking about swapping out my stock road runner hood for a fiberglass A-12 type hood. I see several places sell them online like AMD and AAR.

Which is the best and is it how difficult is the install? I would like to have it painted to match too so i know it will need to go to a body shop of course.
Thank you for your advice

No experience with Roadrunner hood, but I have AAR T/A hood and it’s nice.
Fit and finish was perfect, painted and bolted it on with no mods.

Keep in mind how you'll hold it up. Most fiberglass hoods don't take well to stock hinges/hood springs.

Mine is a VFN - made for hood hinges (with light springs obviously). Its beautifully made and fits well. The one thing it has ove all others is its has an original style flange above the grill. This does two things ... 1) it ads rigidity to the front and 2) it provides the correct shape around the headlight buckets. HOWEVER ... the original A12 hoods were molded from Belvedere/Satellite hoods and have the center bulge treatment. The VFN hood does not have that bulge - the hood is flat in that area giving it a very clean look.

Thank you
Do you have a link for it please?

Let me go and have a look at my hood. It may be a Glasstek instead of VFN (I always get them mixed up).

Here's a link to Glasstek: http://glasstek.com/products/plymouth/road-runner/h7050/

Stu - I vote for keeping your original hood. It matches the rest of the car.

If you change you will need to match the paint and striping.

Then you will have to seal the air cleaner to the hood otherwise it looks bad and just scoops bugs into the engine compartment.

Thank you for the link.

Just doing some thinking about changing things up a bit for a new look. I have a buddy who is a body and paint guy so he could match the color no problem he said.

The a12 scoop is the most awesomest B body scoop ever. The standard RR hood is merely okay.

So mine IS a VFN. Photos attached. You can see the front lip I mentioned that goes across the underside of the front and maintains the shape around the headlights. Many 'glass hoods fall short in that area - they trim too much or don't have the correct curve. Also note the flat nose. They don't have the stock shape on the underside but its still quite rigid - I think they lay in more glass in the bolt-on hood versus the pin-on which is paper thin. I do like the underside of the Glasstek hood but I bought this one used so didn't really have the option and since I haven't seen one other than in pictuires, can't speak to the quality.
