I've seen many Holley intakes advertised as a Strip Dominator for a big block Mopar but when you read the intake they all have Street Dominator on them. What gives? I've actually never seen a Strip Dominator intake for the big block Mopar. Has anyone else seen an actual Strip Dominator for a Mopar? I've seen them for big & small block Chevy but none for Mopar. If there is such a beast, got any pics of one?
Thanks.

There's a strip dominator for small blocks, but not for big blocks AFAIK.

Holley never made one....... but I kinda made one out of a Street Dominator 30 years ago....... before there were any single plane intakes available for 4500 carbs.

I did that a few years ago, but did not do as good a job. I just screwed some aluminum bolts into the original carb mounting holes, cut them off flush, drilled and tapped the Dominator pattern, and opened up the plenum. Worked good and I still have it somewhere.

That's a great looking intake. I checked Summit, they have a listing for a Holley Strip Dominator for a 440 but when you look at the pics it's a Street Dominator. It has "Street" cast right into it. You would think Summit would get it right. Here's what I'm thinking, Holley miscast the Mopar 440 as a Street Dominator when it should have had Strip Dominator on it due to the fact it's a single plane intake. In the Chevy junk the Street Dominator is a dual plane and the Strip is a single plane. Since the Mopar 440 Street Dominator is a single plane intake it should have been stamped as a Strip Dominator. I think Holley messed up there.

You can believe it’s a strip dominator if it makes you feel better, but that’s not what it is.

Strip dominators don’t have choke wells and egr ports, or an advertised operating range of idle-4800.

As for single plane thing........ there are both Street dominators and Strip dominators for SB Mopars...... both are single plane.

Chip, that intake has been tested many times.
It’s not usually the “best”, but it’s not bad.
It’s about the same as an M1 4500.

One of the motors it got tested on was the 448 I did the Edelbrock head tests on when they first came out.
The results are in the Tech Archives.

Buy a Trick Flow intake, grind off the logo, and tell people it's a prototype Holley STRIP Dominator intake. grin

We tried it on my Stage VI combo, too. IIRC, it was about the same as the modified Victor w/ a good 4150.

Above a certain point, I think the Holley's runner size is a restriction that can't be "fixed" easily because of their shape & small size (hard to access).

DaveRS23...thanks! I put a 4500 gasket on it and traced it out several months ago, but was a little leery of breaking out the burr bits and going to it.
Yours looks like it turned out real nice!

up I ran that intake for a couple of years and although the side rails are thin, they sealed okay and did not give me any problems. The long studs are for the spacers, of course. That engine responded well to as much spacer as the hood would allow. I may run that intake again on a project that is in the works.

You are thinking wrong. Look at the pics. Small runners. I had a Street Dominator on a 383 Magnum. It was a single plane. It was a very responsive intake over the factory 4bb. I had a 625cfm Carter on it. Got better mileage than the 485cfm factory POS Holley.

Everything Offenhauser built was a single plane including the Dual Port intakes.
