questions. Just looking to show off some G3 goodies. - 03/29/24 04:34 PM

I’ve always had 2 issues that bothered me. Weight and Speed.
1965 Coronet
1980 Mirada
1970 Coronet
2005 Magnum RT
2012 Challenger RT
2006 Jeep SRT

The average weight of these vehicles is 4350 Lbs. Time to be different!

Welcome to my current project.
1987 Chevrolet El CAMINO. Better know for the last few years as the
EL HEMINO in my family.

PROJECT: EL HEMINO

424” Gen 3 Hemi
T-400 Transmission
Ford 9”
PTS Fab K-Frame with Rack
TRZ Front and Rear Suspension
Strange Brakes
AFCO Shocks Front and Rear
Full Cage 8.50 Cert
Full Interior from 1987
All Steel. Even bumpers
Hemi Hood Scoop

My intentions are to wheel this thing around the block a few days a week, hit some car shows and definitely the drag strip. I am not chasing numbers, so I don’t care how fast it goes.
The car is headed down to SteffCo Racing in SC for all the Cage and Chassis/Frame work next month.

I know it’s not a Mopar on the outside.

What's the weight estimate?

Re: Just looking to show off some G3 goodies. - 03/29/24 11:16 PM

No solid estimates yet. Less than 4K. beer

The PTS FAB Kit is a game changer. Weight / Strength, and headers will be off the shelf.

From a family who owns an 84 SS since new, this one hits really close to home! Awesome

I like it better than these idiots that want to stick a Chevy motor in everything else, especially these days a freaking "LS something"...... I get so damn tired of hearing about that BS.
But a turbo 400? Wouldn't a 727 be a better bet?

Re: questions. Just looking to show off some G3 goodies. - 03/31/24 12:30 PM

I like it.
Are you using a aftermarket T400 case? What ECU are you planning on using?
Looks like a fun project.

I don't get the obsession with the turbo 400 either, 727 is just as good. TH400 still explode, still cost big money to handle big HP, almost identical gear ratios, heavier, requires adapter plate or bellhousing, if you put one in a mopar then it don't bolt up to your trans mount and your slip yolk don't fit...

Dodge uses the Turbo 400 in some of the Drag Packs. In my opinion the biggest reason is the availability of the SFI case. Which eliminates the PIA blankets and shields.

Who said there was an obsession with a T400?
And if there was, wouldn't that state the obvious?
I'm not here to debate. 904/727/T400/4L80 Use what makes YOU happy, what YOU pay for, and what gets YOUR job done.

On the other hand, I do have a obsession with my FORD 9".. if anyone would you care to join me? an 8 3/4 to a 9"? Dana 60 to a 9"?
I'll take the weight savings from the 9" to make up for the use of a junk T400.

Holley Terminator X setup for all controls.

Dana 60 only up devil, 40 spline spool and axles and shorten it for your car for the wider rims and tires. Live forever, last a long time bow up devil
Less drag also work scope
As far as drag racing tranny go Pro Flytes up scope
There is an HP amount that you do need to go to an all out drag racing only H.D. turbo 400 type tranny, probably above 1500 HP shruggy work

Some of these members are seriously mopar or no car. Good for them. I agree, your money, your car, end of story. Lots of reasons people pick a 9 over any other rear. Keep doing what you're doing.

Looking good Todd! I always liked that body style. I think the moniker WhiteDevil fits better? lol But, like you said YOUR MONEY, YOUR CHOICES!

What kind of flow numbers did you get out of the eagle heads? I hope to start building a 6.1 stroked to a 426 with around 14.1 compression. I can't decide which is better to use the 6.1 heads or the eagle heads. I have both. Which are both stock and I would like to send them out for porting

Bubba's ported Eagle Heads:

Intake Numbers: .10: 76, .20: 141, .30: 225, .40: 293, .50: 340, .60: 364, .70: 378, .80: 380

Heads have 2.125 dia. Intake valves.

Never flowed the exhaust side. Stock exhaust valve size
