How good is the Terminator X Hemi ignition map?

How good is the Terminator X Hemi ignition map? - 08/30/22 06:41 AM

Is the ignition map in the ECU a semi-direct clone of the factory? I'm curious if I need to be tinkering with it much. I thought I heard these things only needed like 24° timing, and the map goes much higher, albeit in zones that often can be like light cruise. I'm leaving for RMRW 2.0 in a few days and want to know if y'all think it is close enough to roll with.

If I recall on engine masters they said it was really good out of the box. they played with it to see if they could make it better and they couldn't.

I think you can roll with it. just data log and keep an eye on it.

Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember watching that episode. Same with the cam timing and SRV timing. I want to be able to spray it with a tiny shot (~75-100HP) of N2O to run the index class at RMRW 2.0 starting this weekend, and I won't have much tuning time beforehand.

get after it and just watch your data logs and pre-detonation. I would think adding info for a shot would be simple in the Holley terminator. everyone raves on how easy they are. If i would have only known when i bought my mega squirt gold box.

I've got the ECU setup for it already. I'm using huge BigShot solenoids from my previous 4150 plate system, so progressive at such a small shot probably wouldn't work well at the tiny duty cycle. I'm going to try it off the EFI fuel system as a wet-shot since I'm running a 255LPH pump on an otherwise small engine, and I don't think the injectors have enough capacity to provide the extra fuel. 1 switched input to arm it and the rest is ecu controlled to 85% and 4000 rpm to activate. Progressive and delay are just programmed inputs. I have a low pressure pump and standalone cell (also from the plate system) for the fuel if it needs more. I got rid of the megasquirt because it was TOO adjustable and opensource. I needed better baseline.

yes Megasquirt is more complex in my dealings with it. works just complex.

Good Luck

Just to follow up... didn't touch the timing map, nor really study it prior to the event. I ran the first 2 tracks without nitrous, and it felt FLAT above 5600. I uncorked the exhaust and got another 100 rpm out of it. 13.26. I hit it with a 75 shot 4 seconds out and got a 13.09 pulling 4°. 100 shot got it to 13.010, so I left it alone since I was in the 13 index. I looked at the map before track 5, after the averages were locked in for the event, but before the bracket race of Day 5. This thing only had 12° at WOT above 3500. I moved it to 18 and instantly got a 12.6 @ 109. I had screwed with the bad alignment and somehow made it worse, bad enough I had to let out 60' short of the 1320 because it was so squirrely. I put it on the trailer after that, but I know there is a ton more hiding in that map.
