2013 5.7 some questions - 10/17/20 04:27 AM

I have the opportunity to buy a low mileage 5.7 from a 2013 300C. Started to do a little research seems these cars use electric power steering pumps. is there an option to use an earlier model belt driven pump? It wouldn't be a big deal to do a remote mount electric system might be better with the hydroboost just want all options. I will be trying the ms3 with this one, car is a 4 speed. Anything to know about this year Hemi? mds issues? or can you use plugs like the earlier 5.7's? I have a 5.7 from a 2005 300 also but wanted the better heads also considering a whipple so any good reason not to use the 2013? Any issues with the ms3 on a combo like this? As always thanks guys

If you want to put a blower on it, I would plan for that now and put rods and pistons in it. It can live at low boost with the ring gaps opened up but the pistons will fail if you try to run 15-20 psi. Really don't know what a safe boost is maybe 10 psi.

I'm sure a power steering pump off an eagle car engine will fit. The mds will need to be deleted with lifters and plugs. They make cams for the vvt engines so you can use either one. Eagle heads on early engines have alot of compression.

I have not used megasquirt, I had nowhere to put the computer as it can't get wet. I use Holley Terminator X, The X Max can do drive by wire throttle.

So I pulled the trigger on the 2013 5.7. I also got a power steering pump at the local scrap yard for a 2010 charger thought it might work, but when I went to bolt it on nothing lines up with it. the idler piece that takes it place is a bit longer. There was not a spacer on the charger. Am I missing something here? Anyone add a power steering pump to a electric setup? I guess I can measure the difference and machine a spacer just making sure im not missing something.

This will see less than 10 psi so should be ok. also thanks for the tip on the terminator x setup. holley is on it as this will run vvt and the srv.

Looking into it, it seems there is a changeup in pulley offset at some point. Likely best to make a spacer.

Found this out on my delma. 2009 to 2012 VVT timing covers and balancers are shorter then the 2013 and up VVT stuff.

Is that just for car/jeep or for Ram as well?

Car is all I know of since I ran a car timing cover.
