Choosing a replacement block for an 06 Charger. - 02/24/20 11:27 PM
Kayse's (the wife) 06 Charger Daytona has 217,000 miles so to be proactive I figured it was time to start building a replacement 5.7 Hemi for it.
The plan is to do some upgrades on the replacement engine.
I picked up a 2014 5.7 Hemi out of a truck that won't turn over.
Since it's got the Eagle heads on it they'll get used no matter what for the extra HP.
I'm thinking a 6.1 SRT Intake on it too.
What I'm trying to decide is whether I should used the 2014 block or use a 2004 truck block that I have?
I know that the later cranks use a different tone ring which won't work in a 2006.
The later block also has the VVT can phaser which I wouldn't need in a 2006.
Is there any reason why the 2014 block would be a better choice knowing that it's going in a 2006 Charger?
Any thought or opinions on this???
Thanks!!!
