what happens to all or some of the Motors that a dealership pulls as warranty and puts new motors in? I would like to get my hands on one or two. as long there isn't a hole in the block.

They send em back to the factory to be re-built for the next warranty replacement job. Usually a pretty steep core charge for customer pay replacement engines so those will be hard to justify either.

I figured, never an easy way or at least a easy path

I am looking for a 6.1 or a 6.4 on the cheap and I mean real cheap. I have a 5.7 now runs good fun to drive but as always want to upsize just a little. I also have a spare 5.7 in pieces that I can do just about anything I want with. But I do want to keep the motor in my car in tact as a spare on the stand in the garage. I think I should just go with my gut and do the rod and piston change to the one in pieces, find another set of eagle heads and stop trying to be so cheap.

Thoughts?

how cheap is cheap? There are running BGE's on ebay for $3500-4500, just need the SRT cam in it.

I have a 90,000 mile BGE oil pan to valve covers (no intake or I can throw in an eagle intake) for $2500 if you know how to get it shipped to you.

That’s not worth the paperwork (and LIABILITY) for FCA to hassle with. Not even close. They are sent to the crusher.

Might be able to find a 5.7 with a dropped valve for that - check the usual online for sale sources

I could hook a guy up with all the basic hard parts to build an early 5.7 longblock for $500 butt the block needs bored and new pistons. If you wanted an eagle 5.7 I could do that for $500 and decent used pistons and block that could be used for a budget build without even a bore. Again you would have to finger out how to ship it to where ever you are.
