No spark FAST XIM standalone HELP Please Updated - 02/03/20 12:25 AM

OK here is the situation
FAST XIM standalone unit all dip switches are set correctly
2019 6.4 BGE engine
I used the old style cam and crank sensors red o ring crank sensor
I have no spark
The cam light on the XIM blinks the crank light stays solid
I swapped the crank sensor for a new one the old one was brand new
Any input much appreciated I am at wits end with this thing

Is it possible that you are using a crank sensor for the 32 tooth tone ring? The 2019 will be a 58 tooth ring. Might be worth a check.

Well I am using the old style sensor because that is the plug style the XIM harness has on it. I have read that the old style sensor would work. The newer sensors have a different plug, if I knew it would fix it I would cut the plug off and put a pigtail on it. Can anyone verify the older sensors won't work with the newer tone ring? The length of the sensor is exactly the same.

I suspect if the ECM is expecting 32 pulses and it gets 58, it might cause a problem.

You set the XIM up for the 58 tooth or 32 tooth tone ring so it knows what to expect.

After research it looks like the older sensor will not work with the 58 tooth ring. The sensor does not pickup the teeth and it shows the FAST module no wave it is a flat line if you will. I have a pigtail and new style sensor coming and will report back. You would think they would add this into the instructions when you buy the unit.

In my opinion if you are doing any gen 3 hemi you are best to change the tone ring to a 32 tooth and use the MSD unit. I decided to go this route because I was lazy and didn't want to change the tone ring. In retrospect I would much rather have the MSD unit. The MSD is much more user friendly and I feel the tech support from MSD is much better. I hope MSD comes out with an update to the unit like they did for the LS box so you can use it on either tone ring. I have 2 of the MSD units and they are much better as stand alone ignition units. Maybe if you need full blown engine management the FAST is good but as a stand alone forget it.

Also if I remember correctly, Chrysler used 2 different 58x tone rings, which means 2 different 58x sensors. I think the early 58 is 2011-2012, and the late is 2013 onward. However I could be wrong.

OK got it running bought a 2009-2013 crank sensor pigtail and a 2009-2013 crank sensor with the green oring. Fired right up. Now the only issue is no matter where I set the dip switches in the box it has 32 degrees of timing.OMG I wish MSD would change their box to run the 58 tooth wheel!!!!

Good deal, glad it is running! I spoke to Geoff Turk about updating the hemi 6 box for the 58 x wheel. Hopefully they will do it.

I spoke to MSD today, they said they are about a month out on having the Hemi 6 setup to run the 58 tooth tone ring.

Hopefully they R smart enough to reprogram an original box to accept this!
