Shimming your starter

I put the 5.7 in my dart sport and was getting a weird noise while priming the motor, sounded like the starter was getting hung up, that same noise.

the combo is
5.7L Hemi
904/ATI flex plate
Mopar Mini Starter
TTI long Tube headers

Nothing fancy, has anyone had to shim there starter?

Yes I had to shim mine .150 with a Reid Glide and Mopar mini starter.

904 trans , had to shim my starter 3mm

I think I may have to replace my starter. It looks like it is getting hunk up on the converter. there are a few shinny teeth in one area but when I looked at the starter it was far enough away from the teeth. at this point what's another $100 or so.

I don't really have to much money invested in this to date.
