392 8 speed swap - 01/28/19 06:30 AM

I have a line on a 392 / 8 speed with no ecu or harness. How much money should I count on to get them running in my B Body? Also if I ditch the 8 speed and go with a 6 speed and use the Mopar stand alone is the Mopar standalone tunable with something like a Diablo?

My Fearless Prediction: right at $3,000.

Is someone even making a aftermarket harness for the 8 speed? It's been awhile since I looked, so maybe there is now. The six speed is easier to set up electronically, no extra stuff needed outside of the motor electronics. I have a Mopar setup in mine, it does come unlocked, so tune away with it. What kind of car is it going into?

Building a clone Superbird, there is a shop in Wa that makes a standalone for the trans for 1000$ no extra sensors needed just the factory shifter, its all plug and play...

The only problem with the MOPAR engine harness, and it may matter, is the length of the wires. It is the same harness that they install in the Challenger and Charger, so it does limit you on placement of the computer, the relay/fuse box, and a couple other things. Also, how are you going to mount the shifter. I have seen projects with the console from the new gen stuff in the older cars.

I’ve been toying with the idea of the knob shifter from a Ram on the dash.
