After restoring and installing the grille and “Shaker” scoop on the Comeback ‘Cuda we then turned our attention to the rocker gills. These are a one-year only feature and they are unique to the 1970 ‘Cuda model. In 1971 the “gills” were moved to the front fenders just in front of the doors. When you see a base Barracuda without these gills it just looks bare and unfinished. The designers at Plymouth were known for creating cool paint schemes and these gills are too cool for school.

Pretty much the same technique I've outlined over the years here on Moparts, sure beats individually hand painting or masking off each "saw cut" as some have done, plus the "reverse pattern" spraying technique leaves a much more natural appearing shadow finish like the originals had.....The original vendor/supplier finish pattern was either this technique or a mask IMHO

Ditto.

The factory would have done the fastest method possible.

That was actually an edit... I posted and removed that like usual this mag/publication is 25 30 years out of what folks have done, rehashed info everytime and it looks to me they over cleaned there end result. Original ones were not as nice and just really fogged over.

Ive pics of over 20 years ago of org. vs old nos then vs the repops that many painted like the oem. At least the repops I knew of were all the wrong silver and no black from the package. Maybe they got better.
