Torsion bar anchor in lower cont. arm slipping

Torsion bar anchor in lower cont. arm slipping - 08/01/18 05:56 PM

This on a 70 Charger RT, changed to heavier bars this year to remedy what we thought was a sagging bar on driver's side.
Now sagging is apparent on that side again.

Figured bar anchor in rear cross member was the culprit, but today's inspection revealed movement in lower control arm asbly.

Looks like we can loosen the suspension to the point where you install a new bar and weld the perimeter of the front anchor.

Does this sound like a fix, or am I missing something?

Thanks, Joe

The front t bar socket is supposed to pivot within the control arm, with the blade; that part that the adjustment bolt contacts to put tension on the bar.
Where do you suspect movement that should not be and think you need to weld? A picture is worth a thousand words..is the LCA t bar socket somehow loose fron the blade? LCA bushing intact?

Definitely need pics, or a video if you can have someone push up and down on the fender while videoing the control arm.

Possibly a broken LCA mount in the k member? Or is that what you are trying to describe?

Again, pics needed.
