Pump for borgeson box

Pump for borgeson box - 11/13/17 01:31 PM

What pump is everyone running with the borgeson box?
I did as much of a rebuild as I was capable of at home to my original 74 pump years ago. I shimmed it to give the firm feeling but when I put the borgeson box in 2 years ago or so I removed all the shims thinking the new box is already giving the feel id be looking for. This pump can't keep up at idle when it comes to parking. I am tempted to try to adapt the late model jeep style pump to my BB but don't want to if all I need is a new pump.

I'm was using a Saginaw with the shims and it did get tough in parking lots at times. Ended up removing the shims... The way to go would be to leave the shims in and find a smaller pulley. Never did though...

At first I had a Federal pump connected, but the fabbed hose-connections started to get leaky after a while so I just mounted an old Saginaw-like pump I've had laying around for years which had the proper fittings.
No problems whatsoever.

I could measure the pump's pully diameter for comparison.
My engine can idle at 500rpm without issues.

My car used to idle that low, but it's currently idling around 900. That's a whole other issue though.

The Borgeson box operates at a higher relief pressure than the OE Saginaw box. We sell a pump with a 1350 psi relief and the proper flow rate for the box. Removing the shims from your pump isn't enough to get the job done.

Curious, I have the OE saginaw bought new a few years ago but changed the flow control valve to this:http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/60791/10002/-1
what makes your box different? I do have to put in some extra arm effort during autocross would your pump eliminate this being better matched? (I should mention I'm also running with fast ratio pitman/idler arms)
