ALTERKATION switch bigblock to new gen hemi - 12/09/12 06:40 PM

OK - here my dilemma - Any Alterkay experts on the board , What can I fanagle here ..

I have powdercoated - ready to go with bigblock spool mounts ..

project changed now I have a small block - no biggy i figured id just get small block mounts from Reilly . - thats easy , BUT

now it gets more interesting , tripped over a ready to run 6.1 hemi with all FAST stuff

do 6.1 mounts bolt right on the alterkation i have or - do i need to cut patch- weld \ freshly powdercoated alterkay ???

anyone besides reilly have experience on this topic on a Sunday ??

keep forgetting to call during the week ..

IIRC there's new Hemi mounts sold by AlterKation already.

Certain there is , just curious if the crossmember
Needs to be modified for an akertk thats been fabbed
Fir a conventional engine sb/bb mopar ....

on that I don't know. Probably check the bigblockdart forums, they're bound to have something swapped by now like that.

big blocks and small blocks will use the same welded on tabs but different engine mounts.

i'm 99.9% sure that the modern hemi uses a different weld on tab. so yes you will have to cut the tabs off the alter-k and weld the new ones on. the engine side brackets are easy, bill sells them.. he will also sell you the tabs to weld on.

Correct

small/big block , gen3 hemi, 426 hemi All use different tabs welded on.

Your options

1. Cut the tabs off use a motorplate.

2. Cut off your old brackets and Bill can send you the gen3 brackets to weld in

3. Send your k-frame back to Bill and he will weld the correct tabs on

I talked to Bill about a year ago about this
2 or 3 you will need to get your k-frame repowder coated, i not sure how much he charges for option 2 or 3

thanks guys - didt want to bug anyone on a Sunday .. so busy at work , its 2nd to last priority ,
But - Yes Bill HAS always answered the phone for me ..

while its fresh on my mind , Ill send him an old fashioned email ..

too bad i couldnt go backwards with a shumaker adapter and keep what i have ..

anyone have an extra alterkay bbody just kframe kicking around ? I want to have diversity down the road .. maybe i should keep the original one , JUST in case .. and order a new frame ..

I saw one for sale on the forums, don't know if it was on moparts or bbodiesonly, or dodgecharger.com, it was for just the frame, sorry I couln't be more help

LOL I have an extra alterkation k-frame i am trying to get rid of cheap if you want

I brought all 3 frames just because of this stuff lol I will pm you my number iam right down on long island if you are interested
