One day you are fine and the next you are final. - 10/14/19 12:27 AM
Man life is one crazy roller coaster. two months ago i got the call from my cancer doctor proclaiming i was all clear and had beaten cancer (Melanoma).
A few weeks ago my side started hurting and after a visit to the doctor place again along with some blood tests and a few cat scan my doctor calls me up and tells me i am terminally ill with stage four liver cancer and there is not much they can do for me. Hummnnn? Two months ago i was hero for beating it now i am a walking dead man. Go figure life...
Anyway tomorrow they are going to give me 6 hours of heavy duty chemo just to try to buy me a little time to get my affairs in order. The chemo will destroy my immune system along with a whole bunch of other fun side effects.
So just wanted to say thank you to all the folks here who have been more like family to me than just friends. I could never personally say goodbye to all of you so this will have to do for now.
I never got to travel around the country getting to meet you all and sponging some free beer and food so that's a real bummer.
Take care everyone!!
Stu

Stu - also I am speechless & damn sad to read this. We have both been on Moparts a long time, & numerous others have checked-out, but they will not be forgotten. You are indeed one of the true classics & your presence in our world has been our pleasure. Who else will I go to now for garage door questions?
From now on, for every day you feel good, absorb as much pleasure as you can. Keep on posting as long as you can & we will all follow you. Take care my Mopar brother. You will never be forgotten.

Not sure what say Stu đ You are a man of courage for posting this and letting everyone into your most private moment. Just know you and your family have touched many lives with your humor, heart and generosity and that is what matters most. Please let me know if there is anything me or my family can do for you and yours. I seriously mean that... you are one of a kind my friend!

Yea i feel bad about that too. I sure did enjoy talking to Moparts members all over the world and helping them fix their door issues. It was a to blast hear about where they lived and listen to all those funny accents. Come to think of it, they probbaly thought my accent was funny too!
Irony is being told i can never have an alcohol ever again as its really bad for whats left of my liver, but i get all the morphine i want to take. Personally i wish it was the other way around, well for right now that is.

Damn Stu, that sucks! The wife still talks about the time we went out to your place and had a fun time, you are truly one of the good guys! We will be praying for you, your attitude is and has always been awesome, if anyone can beat this it will be you! At least you can always say you had a fun life, thanks for being you!
The wife and I just got down to Daytona Beach for Biketoberfest, trailed the Harley down as it has been 4 years since she had a vacation taking care of her mom at our house until she passed earlier this year. We will dedicate this time to you my friend, and hoist quite a few cold ones in your honor!

Stu, Not sure you remember meeting each other here, at Ohlone, or when I contacted you when I received my darkest message. I spent 6 1/2 months incarcerated at UCSF 11 Long, spent some time here, and looking a pictures of my loved ones (including cars and pets), silently wept, laughed a little, and was mostly scared to heck and back after hope was shattered repeatedly. Through some miracle I am yet here working on my 13th year.
Please know the good you have done, the joy you have spread and all the love of life and others you've touched. Persistence and goodness are your testament. Hang in there and enjoy every day. Mopar Forever Brother.

DAMMIT. These past two years I seem to be surrounded with people dealing with cancer.
If there is a take away from this, get out there and do the things you want to do. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed.
I never had a chance to meet you, but always enjoyed the events you covered. You've touched a lot of lives, and looked to have been always surrounded by friends and family. You may have been a slave to the grind, but you were far richer than I think you realize.
Godspeed sir.

Stu, we have never met, but I have enjoyed the stuff you post on.
I hope the diagnosis is wrong, Dr have made those mistakes before, hopefully this is also one of those times.
The time frame they give you is just a guess, I know people that have lived very well for many years after the time frame some Dr gave them.
Miracles happen every day, we are praying for one or your behalf. We are also praying for strength and comfort for you and your family.
Between now and then, live each day to the fullest. Gene

Stu, come on out to Chicago for the MCACN show next month so we can celebrate your life! I am on vacation in Florida right now and had a hard time sleeping last night thinking about you. My mom had cancer in 1995 and they told her if they got it all she would still have 5 years to live at most. The couple times I took the family to San Francisco for our annual California vacations I thought to look you up but thought we would be imposing being it was between Xmas and New Years. Wish I had imposed now.
I'm not a religious person but wish you well and hope.
PS I just emailed this to my daughter who is wrapping up her residency as Physician Assistant (but secretly hoping she finds the drive becomes an ER doctor). She keeps telling me to come in and get a physical (I'm 57) but she knows how bitter I am about doctors and the corrupt drug / medical system.

Sorry to hear Stu, as everyone else has said, hope the diagnosis is wrong. I donât know the Count, unfortunately. I am kinda into natural remedies when modern medicine fails. If you wish to try some, I have two for you... alkaline water (ph above 7) and apple seeds. Drinking akaline water raises the ph in your body and apple seeds have anti cancer properties. Eat the seeds from up to 5 apples daily, you must chew them first. I usually eat them from red delicious but they all should be the same. They donât taste good but you will get used to them. I eat them for prevention so I canât give concrete evidence that it will help you, just of what I have read.

My mother in law is fighting the cancer battle right now as well. And it sucks . So I feel your pain so to speak

When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.
When great trees fall
in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.
When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
unsaid,
promised walks
never taken.
Great souls die and
our reality, bound to
them, takes leave of us.
Our souls,
dependent upon their
nurture,
now shrink, wizened.
Our minds, formed
and informed by their
radiance,
fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance
of dark, cold
caves.
And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.

Wishing you all the best, and more!
I agree here. I don't know what to say. I have dealt with family members with troubles like this and it is such a sad thing. The people around you probably don't know how to respond because they want to be compassionate but they are in shock. I read this yesterday and didn't know if I could compel myself to respond. It is uncomfortable to live with and to talk about. Why can't this happen to some criminal or homeless jerkoff? Why does this crap happen to people that actually bring happiness to others?
I recall the story of the time that you came to our show in Sacramento and set up your Bar B Que to serve up some weenies for friends. Someone in the club asked you to stop because they thought it might cut into our sales at the food booth!
I recall that you often do that at shows that you attend, just because you are a guy that likes to be hospitable. You are a unique guy, Stu.
Cancer is such a sneaky bittch.

.
Yea that was a bummer of a day as i made a free breakfast for all the CCMC volunteers just to show support for the club. Then i got caught "giving away" a bottle of water to an elderly man who was going to pass out due to the heat and the long vendors lines. As anyone knows i have never once charged anyone for anything food or drink wise at an event. So the president of the CCMC told me to told me to leave the show for giving a an bottle of water to a elderly man person who may of collapsed and caused a huge mess for not himself but the club as well. I packed up and left and never went back. That was an isolated incident and i only blame the president for being short sided the rest of the CMCC members are top notch folks.
So you win some you lose some and life goes on.

After I saw this last night I made sure to call my sons. You have made an impact on them as well, especially Alan. He was speechless. Awful news and I can only imagine what you and your family are feeling. Cancer is a terrible disease, and I hope if nothing else you have inspired people to give more to legitimate research charities in hopes of beating this awful life taker.
I hope you can find it in yourself to somehow find bits of joy in your remaining time, and maybe just maybe a miracle will come your way.

Right here Stu - there is hope! Me, I wouldn't even do the chemo - you might do better without it!
Another remedy I read about a few years ago was about lemon juice in water. Like way stronger than chemo (supposedly). Link:

Me, I wouldn't even do the chemo - you might do better without it! As I mentioned in another post, my Mom survived her bout with Cancer (minor bout, nothing like stage 4 honestly), but now has the onset of dementia. We heard of people having
'chemo brain' during or after chemo treatments and at first thought she had it, but, when it didn't go away after a year, they concluded she actually has the onset of dementia.
Before the chemo, my Mom was very active with friends and family, and still drove. Now, she's not allowed to drive (per Doctor) and she's slowly becoming more of a homebody. She survived Cancer, but at what cost?
I'm not sure what I would of (or could of) done differently, but had I known then, what I know now, I would have sought out alternative treatment(s).

I don't post much on this board, but I come here every day. I have always enjoyed your posts whether they were funny or insightful. I don't know you from Adam, but when I came down to the bay area to look at a car a few years ago, you invited for me and my wife to stop by. We never did contact you, but just making the offer tells what kind of a guy you are. As other have said, you can beat this, or at least prolong the time available. My sister was diagnosed with cervical cancer and after 2 years of unsuccessful treatment, the cancer clinic gave her a prescription for morphine and 3 months to live. She found another oncologist who, as he said, was more concerned with keeping people alive than just researching medicine. He kept her alive for another 3 years, most of which were pretty decent. Anyways, sorry to hear, but don't give up hope.

Thanks for the Cars movie 'The King' key chain you sent me so many years ago.. it's got the '65 Satellite keys on it. Think of you every time.
Hope you've gotten enjoyment and weird looks when wearing our New England Moparts Cruise T-shirt.. it's only 13 years ago.
.
.
.
...anyway - gives me a strong urge to head out on a major road trip....
...heck, it's only 5,848 miles R/T.. take about 44 hours out I-90 to Chicago then 80 to Des Moines, Omaha, Cheyenne, Salt Lake City, Reno... have a non-alcoholic beer, then head back.
TBD.

I agree do not let them talk you into giving up!
I was stage 3! During I went in with an unknown Infection as you have no immunity. They finally got it under control I did not think I would leave there alive.
Then the Port had me with a blockage and nothing worked. Finally shots twice a day in the tummy fat layer that cost 1200 bucks each kept it at bay.
At 114 Pounds, not much Fat. LOL
The 3rd time I am not talking about!
Today I was 118.4 pounds. 5'5" tall and Boys size 16 pants. Or As my wife says if I was a "Female Junior size 3! She would love to fit in a size 3 LOL
Today for the 1st time in years I put on a respirator, got out the sandpaper and sanded some aluminum to polish.
I do feel like it is Putting a Square Peg in a Round Hole but that makes it more fun.
Do Not Give UP!

The little woman was diagnosed with lung cancer over 2 years ago and given a year to live. She went through radiation and a few rounds of chemo, then they put her on immunotherapy. She is now in remission according to the docs. She will go for another scan next month to be sure.
Moral to the story is they 'best guess' your remaining time and are not always right.
I, like the others here, wish the best for you.

even more. Remember doctors only practice .

I have a friend who had brain cancer I think 20 years ago. He is a big believer in God and faith. He has had tests that keep saying he is cancer free. I am a believer that most people get told they have XX time left that cancer takes them but there are nes that give the big old finger to cancer and say you are not taking me. Those are the ones that live on well past the xx time that was given them. Fight it out Stu you got it!

That's terrible news. I don't post much, but still seems like I know you from reading the forum for so many years. I hope the doctor is wrong. If that isn't the case, I hope you catch a miracle. Everyone here appreciates you. Take care.

Stu! I met you only once a while back and only stop in here occasionally now. I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier.
You have been a great man here and in your own wide sphere through many years.
I try to live in such a way that I have a positive effect. You have been a role model that goes way beyond what I could hope to accomplish in word, deed and outlook.
When faced with adversity, you have always remained true to yourself and worked hard to overcome. Your footsteps have always been seen on the high road.
You have been a strong worker, husband, father and friend. You have given from the heart to so many here and in your life.
And now you say it's coming to an end.
I certainly agree with the other posts that express shock, dismay, positive thoughts and calls for you to fight this. I know you would even without our encouragement, because that is the kind of man you have embodied all these years. The kind of man that we have all grown to love, respect and admire.
If there is anything that is within my power to provide, do not hesitate to ask. This world would be a smaller, meaner place without your presence. Know that you are in my thoughts, and if one more voice raised in your name would tip the balance, I'll sing and shout until mute. Not merely for my own selfish desires to have you around, but as a beacon to others that can also be enriched by your example.

Man......
Hereâs a bit of good times passed. Roughly 2006 Jimmyâs Old Car Picnic in Golden Gate park. You got up on the picnic table to make all around you aware of all the great things(food/drink/beer) that you were making available to all who came by your tent.
Two turkeys deep frying and quite a few side dishes. I couldnât believe this car show. Food....beers....fun....at a car show!?!? Not super responsible, but big time fun. Hung out for hours and was well fed. Iâll never forget it.
A pic of me sucking the deep fried turkey out of my teeth.
Made it to that show a few times and always had a great time hanging out
Wishing you the best Stu....Sally...,and your girls....

Dang, Stu! I'm very sorry you have to go thru this again. Don't give up without a fight, because if anyone if anyone can beat it with a good attitude.....it's you! I laughed when I read the thing you said about so many different accents of people calling for garage door help. I'm sure you got a kick out of my hillbilly accent, and that's ok....lol. If we all were the same or sounded the same, it would be a boring world. Thanks for all of the help you have given me on my garage door.....you're the air traffic controller of garage doors all over the world. I will say a prayer for you, and I choose to firmly believe that you can beat this.

I have a question regarding the transfer of title of the road runner to my wife's name.
Right now the car is in my name only and what is the best way to put to put it her name name only from now on.
Do i "gift" it or "sell" it at a very low low price or ??? I wan to make it as easy as possible for her is my goal. She had an appointment next month at the DMV.
Thank you for any ideas.

Do you have a will or living trust? Have her inherit the car. Or can you change the registration to include "and/or"?

Re: One day you are fine and the next you are final. - 10/21/19 11:07 PM
In Washington you can gift a car once, very easy, no sales tax etc.
California requires an appointment for the DMV? Jeez. You should be able to select the best way at the DMV after a short explaination.
Take care Stu, this sucks.

You been married long?
May want to put a lien on the "gift".
A durable power of attorney would also be something you and your lawyer should discuss, and it must be implemented when you are of "sound mind", and from what others have shared, that might have passed years ago, I don't know.

Re: One day you are fine and the next you are final. - 10/22/19 12:08 AM
California transfer to a family member is title transfer fee ONLY. So that part is easy. Sign the title over to Sally and sign a paper indicating the transfer. You don't need to go in, but I would suggest that Sally take care of that while you are still here. Title transfers can be done at any AAA office if you are a member. Otherwise there are other insurance companies that also offer that service.
California is also a community property state so pretty much everything you own is already Sally's if it was bought after you were married.

Re: One day you are fine and the next you are final. - 10/22/19 12:10 AM
Should be pretty easy to add her to the title.
Everything the wife and I own is owned jointly. If one should pass the other still owns it with no attorney's etc.
When meeting with your attorney, I would strongly encourage both of you to get a will(s) set up ASAP as one never knows when something may unexpectedly happen. Without one the state will have their way and your heirs will wind up with a mess.

The DMV should be able to issue a new title with you and / or your wife for a new title fee & no lawyer needed.
We did this recently (my mom) she wanted to make sure any paperwork was easy when she leaves this world.

a will is an absolute necessity. [as one who has been slowly "getting around to it".
]
before my younger sister got too sick, she had me set up a will, power of attorney, made financial matters in order, etc. with my attorney.
when she passed, all her affairs were in order, which simplified the work i had to go through as executor of her estate, much easier than if she hadn't done so.
it was still tough [for various reasons], but would have been much harder if we had not done anything while she was still here.

Stu....if the lawyer seems to be pushing you and Sally more towards a trust instead of a will, make sure the 2 of you understand it well. The father in law of my buddy at work just passed away at 80 something a while back, and had set up a trust instead of making a will. He believed he was making it easier on his family by doing so. Turns out, it is going to cost $20K to get the trust administered! It has to be done by a lawyer, instead of someone entrusted to be the executor of the estate. The transfer of the title at the DMV should not be that big of a deal. It might be helpful to her also if you make sure the power bill, water bill, etc is fixed to where she doesn't have to pay a deposit to simply get those things transferred into her name. It can't be easy having to suddenly have to deal with all of this stuff.
But seeing you here asking what's the best way to do this or that just proves that Stu is still Stu......doing anything and everything he can to make things better for those around him. Just like you always have.

I wouldn't think you have to do anything at all. On your passing it goes to her since she is your wife. State law is going to be very clear on that. If you wanted to be extra sure you could add her to the title now but I wouldn't think that was even required unless she is planning to sell the car immediately. You can also file a will and make it very clear that your wife gets the car but even without a will she would get it since everything goes to your spouse unless stated otherwise.
Same thing with bank accounts and stuff like that. You can add her to all of your accounts so she has access now, but if you don't everything will transfer. The only issue with bank accounts is it can take some time for the paperwork to all get thru the system so your wife needs to have access to some funds in order to pay bills.
For any retirement accounts (401K or IRA) you can name a beneficiary on the account and then it skips the whole process. These days everyone has lots of accounts and passwords and monthly charges that are hard to shut off and all sorts of stuff like that. I've had a few close friends pass away recently and their wives all had some issues with passwords and account access and stuff like that.

You probably don't even need a will since everything will go to your wife but it could be worth the money just to go over it all with a lawyer. If you make a list of all of your possessions and then double check to see who is listed as the official owner it will make the task much easier. As stated before, lots of items can be owned jointly and/or you can name a beneficiary on the account.
There is a potential tax issue that might be worth exploring more since I don't know the answer. Typically an asset is stepped up to the current value on inheritance so it might be better for your wife to inherit the car rather than be a joint owner. I'm not 100% sure this is true in CA but it could be a big difference in taxes when the car is sold so you should make at least a phone call to a tax person. If you bought the car for $10,000 and it is now worth $50,000 then it would be better for her to inherit it. If the numbers aren't big then don't worry about it since I'm sure you have better things to do with your time.

I'm not addressing the will aspect, its self explanatory and above my pay grade.
I do want to repeat, a lot stuff is dealt with before a will is in play, and it's an extremely stressed time for everyone involved as that time approaches..
A durable power of attorney fills the gap, and makes life easier for everyone, until the will comes into play.
If you become incapacitated, a power of attorney is no longer an option.
They are revocable, they are immediate, they are not cumbersome, and they are not costly, but you need a lawyer to set one up with his advice for your situation.

You might be correct but personally I don't see much value in it when there is a spouse who is still a loving partner. If my wife was terminal I wouldn't suggest that she sign a power of attorney over to me. I just don't see the point. She could just as easily make her wishes known in other ways and skip the extra paperwork. But my law school diploma is 30 years old and I never practiced in this area so perhaps it would be on the list of questions to ask a lawyer. I do know that several of my older relatives have been told by lawyers that they need powers of attorney set up, they need trusts and they need living wills and they need other such stuff. In all cases these were just money grabs by the lawyers. If the estate is small and there is a living spouse who is still in good standing then things should go very smoothly. The main thing is to make sure that there is access to funds for at least 6 months and that all the paperwork is in order. (insurance, social security, pension, retirement accounts, bank accounts, saving bonds, contracts, loan guarantees, etc.)

We simply changed the title to Husband Name *OR* Wife Name
We already had a family trust that spelled out everything owned be either, or jointly was common property (California is commonn property state) and what was to be done after either or both of were not around.
# or 4 hundred at the attorney along with all costs for changing title of vehicles and deed.

For , other then what has already been mentioned:
1. Almost nobody in late stages of C think of everything
2. It it makes one task more efficient in the final stages, any of the paperwork involved in acquiring the document will seem minor
3. It the estate is small, the "Money Grab" aspect is no longer an issue
4. A durable power of Attorney can be conditional/timely as desired, it is not a one size fits all entity
5. There is a point of no return when making the decision to acquire a POA.
6. A POA is hardly contestable , vs trying to handle finances and prove you are a legal spouse and with all needed authority to conduct a transaction with a living spouse.
7. Lawyers make their money off of finding things that do not go "smoothly", that A POA helps prevent, but then I am not a lawyer, and likely am biased.
I'll now step aside from this suggestion at this point, as Stu has more important matters at hand.

Stu You just need to know CA. state law. Here in Illinois if there isn't a will it all goes to the surviving spouse. A will can maybe avoid probate not sure. The changing of names on paper work can be done with a copy of death certificate.
Andy they was no upstep in assets when my father died and they transferred to my Mom, but her stocks did when she passed.

Re: One day you are fine and the next you are final. - 10/24/19 06:38 PM
in my two experiences in pa. [my dad and my sister]
the state ALWAYS wants to go into probate so they can get a BIG slice of the money pie.
my dad had virtually nothing except for his car, [1999 stratus, bought from a member here] which i sold off to finish paying for his funeral. the carpenter's union paid for the majority of that expense.
his girlfriend was on his bank account, and was beneficiary of his life insurance.
he lived in her trailer, so all that was left was his cloths and some trinkets that were in the trailer.
he had a minimalistic, will, so the state was MAD that there was nothing to claim. [BOO-HOO !
]
my sister had the same basic items in her possession, with an exception. her will stated that if there was anything left over in her bank account after everything was paid, those moneys were to be given to the local animal shelter.
once again, the state had their grabby hand out, and got NOTHING !
both instances had my attorney involved, and in my opinion, turned out great for all involved.
as an aside, my attorney and i went to school together, and when i opened my junkyard in 1972, i was his first client after he graduated from law school. [he treats me really well as to his fees to this day

Exactly. Which is why having a will, etc...is so important. There is no downside to a will and a POA. Plenty of downsides to not having them, most notably the probate process, in which the state makes you jump through hoops, moves at an incredibly slow pace, and milks your estate for more $$$.

Hang in there Stu. Havenât been around much lately, but always read your posts for years. No drama in them, which was always appreciated.
As to the will, itâs a good idea to have one, but even more so that your surviving spouse has one.
My mom never got around to having one put together, probably because she couldnât face making the required decisions, so we went through probate. Her estate was not large, but respectable. Probate costs were something like $350 here in Michigan, so unlike what I read in other posts, the State didnât exactly make a bundle upon her death.

Stu although I really never knew you I know from the years that your a Good Guy! I feel very sad to hear this news for you. I wish you all the best, I always thought it was real cool how you would help so many with garage issues. This is a relentless disease and wish there was a cure by now.

the POSITIVE ATTITUDE one has plays a HUGE role in one's life !
Stu has ALWAYS had a positive attitude, proven by all the pics he has submitted over the years showing the good times at shows and his cooking abilities. [sure wished i could have sampled some of those feasts !
]
also, when we have talked on the phone concerning garage door issues, you could just TELL he was a positive guy.
keep up the attitude you have always had Stu. we are all with you in this deal together ! [to paraphrase Red Green]

My friends came and took the road runner a few days ago their house to do one last go-over on the car before it gets passed on to my wife.
They did a nice thing and that really got me all choked me up.
The only thing not on the list was the B&M Hammer shifter that broke off as he was parking it. I am so glad that happened when he had it in his hands and not when i wife had to take it out for the slow parade.

Stu,
Itâs been close to 20 years Iâve known you. All this time, youâve been the face of this forum to me, brother. I havenât been around this site often the last year and a half since I went back to school. This morning I was looking at my phone and I had a premonition something was wrong with you. I shrugged it off and hit the link and bam. Here we are. As are so common, the words, âI donât know what to sayâ are appropriate. Iâm so very sorry this disease decided to pick on such a beautiful human being.
You have been such encouragement to me over the years. I can still remember one night, standing on a ladder inside my garage in Idaho, talking to you on the phone as you helped me set the springs on my garage door. How compassionate you were with me telling me to be careful because people can get hurt messing with preloaded springs. Iâve been gone from that house for 10 years, but Iâm sure the garage door opener still hangs there with the little sticker I put on it that it says âStutronic 2000â to honor you. I also remember the time we were talking about San Francisco and I commented that Iâve never been there, always wanted to, and that I like Ghirardelli chocolate but I couldnât get it here. A couple days later I received a care package from you. I know that my life is just one of dozens that you have made a caring and positive difference in over the years, While youâve asked for nothing but friendship in return. I will always regret that I didnât make it down to the clubhouse to see you in person and share our cars together.
Thank you for all the encouragement that you gave me on my cars, but most of all for the friendship. I really hate The thought of you going through this. God bless you my friend. My prayers go out to you and your sweet wife. It Lord bless you and keep you. May he shine his face down upon you and give you peace. Stu, you are a great man and my life is better for knowing you.

Stu, I haven't logged on or posted here in more years than I can remember. I happened to look the site yesterday and this thread was the first one I saw.
As many have already said, I struggle to find the right thing to say. But, your positive attitude will go a long way in your fight.
Miracles happen every day. It is my wish you are blessed with remission and eventually a cure.

Stu, You have been on here a long long time. I know I found this place when I bought a 1980 Dodge Powerwagon and I have had that car for 15 or more years now.
Now this thread isn't quite threatening to become as long as the roller painting a car thread but it did get me to thinking....
Would you be willing to post some things you remember as being fun and interesting threads?
I am sure some are gone and won't be found, but others like this were fun to read once in a while.

They did a nice thing and that really got me all choked me up.
That was an outstanding gesture on their part.
I'm only just seeing this now... last I saw I thought you were on the mend.
So sorry to see this... and I'm going to pass some info along to you via PM
My brothers fiancé has been fighting ever spreading melanoma for the last 2+ yrs at Sloan Kettering cancer center in NYC. (foot to lymph nodes, to bladder, to liver) After surgeries and standard treatments, it went from bad to worse. She got into a clinical trail with a new "
immunotherapy cocktail", and it finally killed the cancer... pretty quickly too. But the treatment, and the associated side effects made Chemo look like a Sunday picnic... Cancer's dead... but she's been fighting the side effects now for well over a year with little progress. But still living, and finally starting to see some slow progress back to normal.
I'll send(PM) you the drug list that you can ask your Doctors about... San Fran is a big high profile city, just like NYC... So hopefully they already have exchanged some info with Sloan relating to what I'll send you. Note it was a Clinical trial for those facing a poor outcome, via standard methods. From what I've read in this thread you may now fit the bill...
Having gone through the whole neck cancer Surgery.Chemo.Radiation deal myself, I know how bad it can be.
Best of luck...
PS:...
Unless California is completely off the rails, you should be able to gift the road Runner to your wife easily.
The '74 Challenger I have, was gifted to me from my Dad...
I gifted my Brother a '72 Olds, and Toyota to my Brother-in-law
And my Aunt gifted me her low mile olds before she passed.
Just had to pay title & registration fees... no TAXES
edit (info sent to PM)

Keep on fighting, don't give in. Never give up, as was recently pointed out, clinical trials have shown to be effective and you should have your doctors look into that approach.
Always in my prayers -- All the best to you and your family.

Stu, I hope you get to read this. There is something I want to say before you "run down the curtain and join the choir invisible."
You, sir, have been the one constant on Moparts.com that has been full of positivity and good cheer.
I have been a member of Moparts since the late nineties. I have seen the best and worst of this site. For all of its ups and downs, your presence has never failed to put a smile on my face.
I have always admired your ability to roll with the punches and your ability to deal with the good and bad that life hands you by strapping on a viking helmet and picking up a beer mug. I have not yet seen a post from someone who happened to be in your neighborhood that didn't relate in glowing terms your hospitality and good humor.
Some people change the world by doing one big thing...
Others change the world by doing countless small things with love and good humor. Everyone that you came into contact with (either in person or through this site) can attest that the world is a better, happier place because you passed through spreading smiles.
As for me, I can count you among the people who I try to emulate in my daily life. When I leave a room, I want people to be happier than when I entered, and when things go sideways, I try to remember that there is nothing so bad (well...maybe ONE thing) that friends, beer, and a viking helmet can't soften the edges on.
So Stu, just know I'm gonna pour one out for you and try to live my life by your example. Thank you for making me a better person.
Godspeed, friend. May heaven have pinball!

I meant Stu a couple of times at the aloney college show, and what a super straight-up guy, I'm very sad to see what's happening to this man I call friend. I hope that in these times that you're not suffering, and that you find peace. There are a lot of people out here that don't understand what's going on self included, but you'll always be here with us and you'll always have left an impression on everybody you've met. To the rest of the family, my sincerest sympathy and condolences go out to you this is a very tough time for you as well, once again I'm at a loss for words. Something to make me smile I guess in these times, will be the thought of bacon fest at the car show. Always Mopar!

Road Runner, Viking helmet, the MPM Prez on the plate, a ceegar, and a reference to beer on the tires. I tried to work it all in...

I posted this on the other thread but in case anyone missed it, I sent Stu's phone a copy of the new Stu Harmon general forum and also to let them know they were in our thoughts and prayers. Stu's wife Sally texted me back and said I read it to him and he loved hearing this. He is not on the computer anymore. You all meant a lot to him. And she signed it with a heart.

They were off the car by the time Stu asked me to sketch it...

Stu, I never had the opportunity to meet you but I have read countless replies that you posted helping people on here with their doors and openers. I have also seen the pictures you posted of the various shows, the cooking you did etc. You were always helping, making something better, and never asking for anything in return. Quite a man, the world needs more like you! My heart goes out to you and your family.

Very well said.
It is hard to believe in only about a months time we have gone from the Stu we all know and love to where he is now. Stu I wish you peace and may the end bring you relief to the suffering you have must have endured the last couple of weeks. I am so sorry this has happen to you and your family. All my thoughts and prayers will be for you all.
Hard to put in words the feelings you get when you read through what has happened and where we are today. Both you guys did a great job in expressing your feelings and thoughts and I would like echo them.
My thoughts and prayers are with our group and specifically with Stu, his family and friends. I am hoping his is getting the very best of care.

Dammit dammit dammit this just rips my heart out. I always thought that I would get to meet Stu someday but it seems that we always run out of time to meet our heroes. I can't hold back the tears when I think about the fun conversations we had on and off the board. We almost had him out here for one of our legendary Ohio Moparts gatherings but life and work couldn't line up.
I hope you get to read this buddy.

Thank you all for the incredible outpouring of support towards me and my family. I will rest easy know what a great group of friends i have made over these 20 years or so.
Stu
Stu,
You gift it to her since she is a family member. There should be no fee or a very small fee. So list the selling price as 0.
Take buddy

I think it is safe to say that the loss of Stu would be a huge blow to our community.
I believe that Stu embodied what we all strive to be; friendly, caring, always willing to help others, generous, kind, fun, life of the part, and true Mopar guy. Who could ask for more?
I was lucky to meet Stu a couple of times but sadly never made it to the Club House or Baconfest.
I'm sure Stu's passing will result in the shedding of many a tear on Moparts as we will have lost one of greatest members we ever had.
You will be missed and honored forever Stu.
Godspeed buddy.

Well, I was one of the first people to open this one and was just gutted so I didn't even post until now. Everything I could say has already been said by everyone else. Stu is the most solid guy on here since the beginning. No drama, no bickering, no negativity at all. Just a pleasure to have onboard.

Stu, what can I say that hasn't already been said, other than how awesome it was meeting you in real life 15 years ago, and how I looked forward to joking around with you at every show the MidPen booth was at. I'll miss your friendship, and forever cherish the memories, like the time we almost burned down your garage when trying to torch a remote controlled Impala with everclear. Or looking at all your 70's hot-rodding photos from the Bay Area.
Love, and one final great big Northern California hug.

I just saw this post on the Mid Peninsula Muscle Car Club Facebook page and I thought I would share.
We lost a truly great member of our Mopar family today.
Rest in peace Stu.
It is with great sadness to let you all know that Stu lost his fight with Cancer.
He passed quietly today at 11:00am.
He left me this page to make sure it continues on. This page has brought so many together because of Stu. So please in his honor continue to post as alway.
Rest in Paradise my dear friendđ
I will miss you dearlyđ
