Blue AAR Cuda at Spring Fling - UPDATE, engine now with car. - 12/10/17 06:32 PM

Another AAR engine has surfaced & I do not have any owner information for the car. The car was seen at the Spring Fling show in Van Nuys, CA back in 2012. It is EB5 blue, black vinyl top, automatic transmission with front & rear rubber bumpers. If you own the car or know who does, please email me at sixpak340(insert at symbol here)att.net

If the louvers were added, it is very possible.

Do you know the owner?

So you need to know the VIN to know if it is a match, correct? I'll get you the other info for your registry so you have it.

Team effort Barry! Team effort. beer

Barry,

Just talked to him. Yes he added the louvers. It was the only Blue AAR there that day according to him.

I'll email you the VIN and his phone number.

It always feels good when a match is made.

I am on a roll today, I just hooked up a Grumman Widgeon owner in Fairbanks, Alaska with photos of his plane from the 1940s in Hawaii.

Oddly enough, he just arrived in Hawaii yesterday for vacation.......

The things I do for fun. beer

I love history.

Mopars & anything Alaskan aviation related.

Having two little kids who never got to meet their grandfather try on his airline Captains jacket & hat from the 1950s?

Priceless.

Barry
I tried to PM you
Give me a shout sometime
My Dad was a USCG Aviator in AK in the late 40's early 50's
he told me some great stories.
I am sure you would get a laugh....

PMs are problematic for me.

Can you please email me at sixpak340(insert at symbol here)att.net ?

The USCG used the Grumman Goose & the Grumman Albatross in the time period you mention, & the base on Annette Island was within miles of where I was born.

I have enough original images to do a DVD on Annette Island Airbase history from before WWII to the time it was closed, but my historical weak spot in images there is the USCG connection after the war.

I have some, but not enough & the story needs to be told. up

That's simply awesome.

It's a great feeling when you get to help out one of the good guys and the owner of the AAR is one of the good guys.

Thanks for making it happen Barry! beer

Cool, thanks!

I actually teared up when I read the email with the update & to thank me. The seller included a photo of your pal with the engine loaded up in the back of his truck.

Very heart warming to see. :-)

Re: Blue AAR Cuda at Spring Fling - UPDATE, engine now with car. - 12/21/17 01:11 AM

It would be sweet if all match ups were this easy.

(it really does appear easy here, a pal knew the car within minutes of the post)

But......

Many more matches are waiting.

Some for cars previously registered & sold, so I do not have any contact information for the new owner.

Some for cars also previously registered, but the people have moved & or changed email address & phone numbers.

Being in any registry is useless to you if you do not keep your contact details current.

Seeing your car has already been registered is also useless to you if you do not contact the registry with your contact information.

Being able to contact the current owner of the car is crucial, especially if an item for the car is for sale.

In that case, the clock is ticking.

I have been at this for over 20 year now & I do get frustrated when something pops up & the car owner can no longer be found.

So.....

For the registries I keep (& for any other registries you may have cars listed with) please do yourself a favor & update your contact info if it changes so you can be contacted when needed?

Re: Blue AAR Cuda at Spring Fling - UPDATE, engine now with car. - 12/23/17 05:50 PM

Thanks, I enjoy doing this.

The AAR owner had found a 440-6 Cuda broadcast sheet in a bucket seat of one of his other cars & he says it is on the way here now.

Maybe another person will get lucky as a result of this, time will tell.

Way to go Barry! My friend still has that AAR engine, that I listed here on the lost and found section. You had stated that it came from a yellow AAR you had seen on E bay.

Re: Blue AAR Cuda at Spring Fling - UPDATE, engine now with car. - 12/25/17 03:34 PM

Thanks, but I was not the only involved here.

Nick at pantherpink.com is the one that spotted the car at the show & let me know about it.

The guy with the block (Paul) mentioned it in a letter to me about his 1970 Duster 340.

Morty426 knew Earl, the AAR owner & set it up so I could get a hold of him.

Situations like this & many others in the past are a team effort.

If / when something shows up for a specific car & it is known to exist, it this a little easier.

I was NOT expecting someone would know that car within minutes of the initial post here, but I also knew we had a lot of CA members.

It was worth a shot & it all worked out.

Thanks for the help guys, Earl appreciates it! beer

Re: Blue AAR Cuda at Spring Fling - UPDATE, engine now with car. - 12/25/17 07:08 PM

I spoke with Earl (the car owner) yesterday. He is very appreciative of the effort that everyone put in to make this happen. His Christmas went from good to awesome when I called him and told him that his engine was still alive. He told me what a great person Paul (the guy with engine) was and that he took a trip down to AZ to get it.

So in this case everyone is happy.

Merry Christmas everyone Santa3

They arrived today, thanks Ray!

I had heard about the one that sold in 2015, but the current owner is not a registry member, so I'll use everything you sent in as a future 'Item of the month' feature on the site.

The broadcast sheet for the other car is a new number to me.

I am working on an update to the 'found' section with more items as time allows today & tomorrow, so the records you sent & more should be listed soon. beer

Same to you. I hope 2108 treats us all very well.

You also asked about your former T/A in the letter, it has not surfaced on my radar yet. If & when it does, I do know how to find you. ;-)

If everyone that currently owns one would register, it would make getting paperwork & other items so much easier to reunite them back with their cars.

Re: Blue AAR Cuda at Spring Fling - UPDATE, engine now with car. - 01/08/18 02:14 AM

Another update.

The broadcast sheet the AAR owner found for a 1970 440-6 Cuda is now featured as our first 'item of the month' for 2018 & there is also a photo of Paul who let me know he had the block with Earl, the owner of the car with the AAR engine in the back of the owners Rampage. It can be seen at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/

Thanks again for the assistance!

Our first item for 2018 was also just claimed, so we are off to a great start to the new year. beer
