I'm at a loss. Was just conversing with Kevin via e-mail a few days ago. This is sad news indeed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. It's been a privilege getting to know him if even for this brief time through Moparts and for his sharing the resurrection one of the greatest race cars of all time with all of us...this is a sad day.

This is not good. I've lost another good friend. I can't believe it.I am deeply saddened for his family and close friends. I've gotten to know him pretty well since meeting him last year. Fred and Diane, he was an ambassador to good will and intentions. Seemed to have a heart of platinum.. I just can't imagine what the family is going through. Fred, please pass the info if you hear about it..

On a Thursday night in October, I stood on the starting line and had the opportunity to see two young men live a dream not too many will have a chance to do. One the young man with the opportunity to drive and one the young man standing watching his car, possibly the most famous of all mopars,go down the dragstrip again. As these two pieces of drag racing history ran down the track Kevin came running over and was like a three year old on Christmas morning.
This has to be one of the hardest threads on this web site I have read. I spoke to Kevin this week-end and he had so many plans for the coming racing season. Everytime we talked it was a pleasure to talk with him about the old days of drag racing and you could alway hear in his voice this interest in bringing the car to locations for people to enjoy it.

Kevin was an example of the new breed, the younger guys that have the same kind of passion that people like Fred, Reed, Joe, BG, myself and others have. A passion to relive the golden days and keep it alive.

I never met him, but I loved his passion for preserving the history of the Missile.

After only a couple of post I got a PM last month from Kevin. It was wierd. We found out he was he was born and raised right across the river from me,in Ironton, Ohio. We knew some of the same people and I even knew one of his high school teachers. Someone has said he looked young. He was compared to me, he was 43. We had even discussed this in a PM. I had a conversation with him at the All Hemi Renuion with out knowing who he was. We had planned on getting together this year to discuss old times and Mopars. RIP

Unbelievable! Kevin and I were getting to be good friends. I know he suffered a bad auto accident a few years back which left him with some problems. I am so sorry.

I have been out of town for 3 days with no internet access while atteding a "Life Saving Course" for the Marine Corps and the first thing I did was go to Moparts when I got home as usual and I was SHOCKED to say the least. I couldn't stop thinking about it all night and it continues to drive me nuts and I never met him.

This bums me out beyond words... he had contacted me about doing art for a poster for this summer's match races. To say I was looking forward to doing the art would be an understatement. He called me once to discuss the project. Now I'm thankful that I even had the chance to share that conversation with him. Life is indeed too short. RIP Kevin and Godspeed Motown Missle!

I just received an email from Diane Sox about Kevin..... I didn't get on the board yesterday so I missed the thread.
I, like several on here have been in contact with Kevin recently and this is a total shock to say the least. Way too young for someone to pass away, no matter what the cause. It is just a reminder to us all to live life to it's fullest, have fun and take care of yourselves.

Sorry to be slow in responding to this tragic post but I needed to take some time to regain my composure after Fred called me with the news of Kevin's passing.Kevin and I have been communicating on a regular basis,some times 2 to 3 time a day on the phone and much more in emails and PMs.He was very enthusisatic about the upcomming racing season and working with BGR,Fred and others for the match races.As everyone knows he found a home here on Moparts and was looking forward to meeting all his new found friends(family).His friendly,upbeat,outgoing and sincere personality was well recieved and respected.In just a short time he became a moparts team player,with informative,helpful,articulate, and humorous posts.We were hoping for a long lasting relationship with Kevin which now can never be.We are saddened to have lost such a friend but we are thankful to have him,if for only a brief time.Kevin will be missed but never forgotten at BGR.

I really don't know what to say! Mike Miller called me last night and asked if I had seen this and I was in shock and actually didn't believe him. Since I have changed jobs I haven't been able to get on here as much as I would like. I talked to Kevin on the phone a couple of times about match racing with Him and Fred when my Demon was done. Always a great pleasure to talk to and he brought light to every one he talked to, regardless of if it was on the phone on here or in person. Kev, you are the man and you will be deeply missed by your family here. You will never be forgoten! Godspeed.

I thought I would share a photo taken last Fall at Norwalk of Kevin, Rich Gorski from Custom Wire Sets, and myself as Rich was installing a new set of wires on Kevin's MOTOWN MISSILE. Kevin's nature made him a human sponge willing and able to absorb the knowledge and experience of those who would share it. For that he was most appreciative.

Terrible news. As said many times here, which does not make it less true, definitely too young to go. He did seem to be thoroughly interested in everything about of the hese cars and drag racing. He even PM'ed me out of the blue about our local track's website, which was down, I think because he wanted to know what was going on in the world of drag racing everywhere.

First and Formost my heart and prayers go out to Kevins entire family!! I received this shocking news on my way to Indianapolis on wed. morning. My wife and I had the privilege to have Kevin and his wife Michelle stay with us new years eve at our home! We had a great time bringing the new year in!! We talked so much about all of us racing this year, and how much fun it was going tobe!! He was going to let my uncle David Sox drive the Missile a couple races to match race me this year. We were hoping to get a four car match with fred , the missile, a jenkins car and myself some this year! Talked about how neat that would be!!! We really got to know each other sending emails! Truely a Super Nice Guy and Friend! I will Miss talking to him. I hope we all can HONOR him with a race this year!! I think he would really like that!! Goodbye My friend!! Dean Sox.

We need to pick a place that would be central to all involved, I know he was from Ohio, but he had made a lot of friends here in NC with his vists to Henderson and Roxboro.

I haven’t been on the board in a few days but sensed something was wrong as soon as I seen Kevin’s board name next to Gary’s on the race only section. Opening up the race board confirmed it with Fred’s post. I never met Kevin, but enjoyed his enthusiasm, his posts on the board and his thirst for knowledge of our hobby and early Pro-Stock history. I was looking forward to meeting him next summer at some of the bigger MoPar events slugging it out against Fred. What a tragedy to such a young man and my heart and prayers go out to his family and friends.

i was reading my local paper before seeing this and seen in the obits where he was original raised in Ironton, Ohio and was thinking the name was fimilar in my head.
for some reason i think he was a year ahead of me in high school and i didn't even know he was a memeber of this board.
i'm just totally shocked at all this.

About the memorial, I think something will be done. As far as expecting Charlie to do it, I don't think we as a website, should do that. I'm sure he is grieving even more than 99% of us. To expect him to throw a memorial show or name one of his Classic events after him, I think, is unfair. I think good things will happen by friends of Kevins. Whether they take credit for it or not will be on them..

I don't spend a lot of time on the race only page, but I do remember reading some of his posts and immediately noticed how enthusiastic and friendly he was.
I never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but reading the comments on here sure makes me wish I had the chance.

Sounds like he was really enthusiastic about vintage racing, I can appreaciate anyone who thrives on what once was in the "automotive world"

I didn't really know Kevin except for meeting him at Norwalk last year at the big Moparts tent get together. He was way too young for something like this to happen and it seemed like he was really starting to enjoy his new found hobby of racing and the friends that he made along the way in such a short time. He will be missed.

Kevin loved coming to Roxboro, You, guys tell me where ya'll want to have it and I'll be @ the Southern Drag Racing Expo in Greensboro next Saturday and all the track owners will be there so maybe I can get something in tjhe works. Maybe Roxboro would consider naming the Thursday night race before the East Coast Drag Racing Hall of Fame weekend in Honor of Kevin
