1970 Super Bee Project

1970 Super Bee Project - 11/29/10 05:19 AM

I bought this Super Bee about a month ago. It belonged to a friend of mine who had the car painted 4 years ago and left in the garage pretty much untouched. I was able to pick it up after he wanted to buy a house.

It is a factory Lime Green with White interior and Ramcharger Hood. The motor and trans were fresh and unfired before I got the car. New Rallye Wheels, New Legendary White interior. It has been slowing putting her together. We found there were parts missing or misplaced so have had to spend time looking for parts.

We fired the motor and drove the car a couple of weeks ago and she is running good so far.

Went to hook up the dash wiring and found that someone had hacked into the main harness and re-routed the main power wire. Tried to hook up the lights and the car would not shut off. So had to buy a new under dash harness from year one last week. Just got that in the mail yesterday so we are hoping to have her running this week,

Will keep the photos coming as she comes together.

The first photos are where I bought her and now th current status.

Very neat car. In the picture of the driver side the stripe isn't there? just out of sequence or not on it yet?

Not on yet. Needs to go back to the body shop for some fish eyes we found in that quarter. Plus look at the top edge of the driver door. That door came from either a R/T or a 500 so it had the moulding on the top door edge. He forgot to weld up the holes. Body guys do what they want.

Great car!

The beltline moulding was optional (albeit rare) on the Superbee so you don't need to reweld/paint if you don't want too, you could add the beltline moulding and all you'd have to do (other than buying it) is drill some holes for the clips in the other door.

Also; are you looking for a valance or the valance trim?

nice car and great pics.

I have thought about those and maybe putting them on. Still has some time before it goes back to the body shop.

My 70 Coronet 440 that's getting the "Super Bee" make over had rocker mouldings... rather than fill in all the holes I just bought a set of repo trim.... should look good!

Thanks for sharing! I've been seriously considering buying my FJ5 car back. I sold it last year.
Here's a picture from Bakers just before I sold it.
