Hemi cuda restoration triple red car

Hemi cuda restoration triple red car - 02/08/10 02:11 AM

Have been meaning to post the restoration of our hemicuda for awhile so here goes.
Bought car as roller from one of the founders of NeHOA, he had quite an impressive collection.
Car before we started in 2006, only work done from 2006-Christmas 2008 was stripping the body down, blasting and priming, trunk floor and underseat pan. We had a lot of other things going on so the car sat until January 2009 when we started back on it, target was 2009 Carlisle................
This would not have been possible without the understanding of my wife, the help from members Pntastar69, DartVader69 and all the vendors/suppliers who worked with our schedule.

Re: Hemi cuda restoration project - 02/08/10 02:20 AM

Pretty solid starting ground, seen a lot worse, though e-bodies do seem more rot prone, car had only 32,000 miles.

Re: Hemi cuda restoration project - 02/08/10 02:22 AM

After blasting and etching primer, floors were pretty solid, though blasting reveals weak or perforated areas............

Re: Hemi cuda restoration project - 02/21/10 11:32 PM

Forgot to mention one important major contributor to the restoration of the cuda was my dad. Without the 30 plus years of apprenticing under him this would not have been possible. A shame he is not a member here as he is one of the most knowledgeable and talented individuals about the 66-70 mopars out there, but at 75 years he rather dislikes to sit at a computer.
Some members may have had him as a shop teacher, Mr. Kriebel, at either Upper Perk in the 60's or at Southern Lehigh from 1970 to 1989.
He is one of the most influential people in my life, excluding the misses of course.

Re: Hemi cuda restoration project - 04/02/10 01:43 AM

Who tried to give me information on my cuda? Thanks for the call but the phone number was a no-go.
Tried several different combination's, yet all came up as a dead phone #.
Must be from moparts as this is the only site they can acces my name and contact information.
If you are "Andy" who called please try again at the number for my business in my website, www.kriebeldesigns.com

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Hemi cuda restoration project - 04/08/10 08:51 PM

Wow...just wow. Unbelievably fantastic job you've done sir.
I now have another favorite car. If I ever win the lottery I'm gonna buy Jerry J.'s purple '70 "Daytona" & make you an offer you can't refuse. Oh how I love the mono themed cars'. Plus it's a girlymatic so I can drive it.
I see you brushed the red on the rear drums, fantastic. So many restos go the fast route & just spray bomb them. Refreshing to see it done correctly for once.
Will this car be at Carlisle this year?

Someone please refresh my memory. The first Shaker cars off the line had body color bubble correct?
Was it only certain colors that received body colored bubbles ?
What month did they go with the silver colored bubble on all cars?

TIA.

Well, just found out today the hemicuda is going to be part of the retro dealer display next month at the Chrysler Carlisle show. Time for the patient Mrs. and I to book a B&B with a nice double jacuzzi tub for the show!
Thanks much to Ed at Carlisle events for the hard work he has put into the show.
