What was the original color combo? Do you have the fender tag? Love to see a pic of it if you do.

Re: 1970 cuda - 01/04/10 10:20 PM

I'm confused? IS it getting leather seats or the original cloth & vinyl? I vite for the cloth & vinyl! Those are AWESOME looking in a black car. That would have also come with red door panel inserts that match the piping on the seats, what a sharp combo!

Re: 1970 cuda - 01/05/10 12:55 AM

it will be getting seats like these but the door panel trim will still be there

Re: 1970 cuda - 01/05/10 02:18 AM

But why?????? The cloth combo seats are so much more interesting (and nicer looking IMO) and less common?

Re: 1970 cuda - 01/05/10 02:49 AM

we found a guy that does great work and for him to do the whole interior it costed around half of what the materials alone would have costed forr everything not including labor

Re: 1970 cuda - 01/05/10 02:57 AM

I'm with Scott on the seats, the cloth looks a million times better, cooler and is hardly ever seen! But either way - build it as ya want it

What engine? And please define "affordable".

Personally I'd put the original #'s 318 back in.

That car restored to bone stock original would be beautiful, yes, even as a plain jane 318 Gran Coupe. I can almost gaurantee you would never see another one like it. Whatever you decide, be sure to keep all the original parts, the next owner willlikely want them.

Re: 1970 cuda - 01/05/10 05:32 AM

i know its crazy but im looking for something in the two tofour thousand dollar range.the original motor will be rebuilt later on thanks

Re: 1970 cuda - 01/05/10 05:42 AM

2-4k for a complete crate engine? Yes, it does sound crazy (nicer term might be "unrealistic") but that much coin might cover the cost of a budget based 360 build or a decent rebuild of your original 318 with a few hop up parts though.

If I was in your position I would watch the classifieds here on moparts for a good used built small block motor from a member in good standing on the board here.Im sure you can stay within your budjet and get a stroker motor or at least a 340.

Lately there has been quite a few in the engines section and you will most likely get one for quite a bit cheaper than doing it your self.

Re: 1970 cuda - 01/13/10 12:37 PM

Well, if I was in your position I would rebuild the #s matching 318. Yeah, it might cost a little but, I think it can be done a budget. The 318 in my Coronet runs well and wouldn't cost a ton to build. Just depends though on what your looking to build. Nice car and good luck BTW.

Re: 1970 cuda - 02/10/10 07:36 PM

Thats a good looking car

I'd be tempted to put the #'s 318 back in it.
Only dress up it with factory looking parts, like an air cleaner and thermoquad, dual exhaust and a small cam

Great project though. I never see a Barracuda with a 318 anymore.
