67 Charger - 9 Year Rebuild - 11/23/09 11:15 PM

Hi everyone. I stop by from time to time but have never really had anything to contribute.

I though I would post some pictures of my Charger that I have owned since 1985 and have been working on rebuilding since 2001.

Of course a car is never done but I'm definately working on the short list.

This is origionally a late Build 67 Charger, 383 2bbl, 4 speed, 3.23 non sure-grip car

Today its a 383 4bbl, 5 Speed, 3.55 sure-grip car

Here is what my Charger looked like in 1986.

When I moved it from storage to my house in 2001

Drive train rebuilding in 2005

Body work in 2008

Paint in 2009

Back on the road May of 2009

Oregon Car Show 2009

Finally October 2009 with a new set of shoes

I plan on going to MOPARS at the Strip in 2010 and a trip down Route 66 in 2011.

Great looking Charger! What are the wheels on it just before the "new shoes" pic? Brand and size and tire sizes?

Thanks.

They are American Racing Hopster rims 17x8 with a 4 inch back space. Tires are 245/45 17s

I have a slight fender rub issue with them.

The new shoes are 15x7 with a 4.25 backspace and 235/60 15s and no fender rub issue.

Still hanging onto both sets for now.

Wow you Charger looks awesome. I really like the hood. Thats dead on

The Magnums look very nice as well. I see you have digital gauges. I was wondering if you could give some details/info/pic's on the dash rebuild. I have a 66 I just aquired back in the summer. I traded a guy even for it. Its in much better shape than the 66 Barracuda I'm doing, but I had already started on the Cuda so the Charger sits under the carport for now. Have been told the instruments & dashes on these are a bear to redo.

The dash bezel was restored by CV Vacuum Platers in canada

B & E Parts now makes reproduction for less than the cost to have an origional restored. They have both AC and non-AC bezels.

To my knowledge no one makes the gauge lenses so you will have to find good used ones or use the ones you have.

As for my gauges I had them done by dakota digital. I had installed a fuel injection system on this car and I wanted accurate readings of Temp, Oil, Speed and Voltage and I felt the origional gauges would not provide this. I took the FI system off and now run a eddy carb and MSD dist, which is a long story for another time.

There are several people that now provide rebuilding and restoration of the origional gauges for the 66-67 Chargers. I will PM you with some contact inforamtion.

I have a spare set of gauges that I will be having restored and will probably take the digital gauges out one day.

Its in Elmira Oregon just West of Eugene.

It was the local booster clubs first car show and a friend asked me to drive up from California to attend.

I recieved two awards, one for furthest traveled (500 miles 1 way) and another for best Mopar.

The Cream Charger next to mine is my friend from Washington. Its a cream 66 383 4 spd survivor.

Thanks for the info Steve. It will come in handy. There is a local guy here in the area who is a Moparts member also. He has a 1st gen with a 500 stroker motor in it. He will be of help to when I get to this car. My car is in decent shape. Its a driver, but someone went up under the dash & had a field day with the wires...
