73 Road Runner - ongoing project

73 Road Runner - ongoing project - 11/04/09 04:03 PM

Hi everyone. I'm new to this board. I bought a beater 73 Road Runner on April Fools Day, 2004. The car was already pretty extensively modified and in pretty bad shape when I got it so this project has been more of a fix-up than a restoration. The number don't match, the color's not original, and there are all kinds of aftermarket parts on it. Oh well, I like it anyhow. Here is a picture and I've got a detailed history of all the work done on my web site at http://www.muskie-lures.com/73roadrunner/index1.htm. I just got finished doing Phase 2 and I'll include a bunch more pics as soon as I can get underneath the car again.

Re: 73 Road Runner - ongoing project - 11/06/09 03:00 PM

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. The car was originally FE5 rallye red with white stripes and interior. I changed it because I got tired of people asking me if it was a real Starsky & Hutch car. Whoa!?!?!?! Now it's PRH Inferno Red Crystal Pearlcoat. At least that's still a Mopar color. Hey 268RTs4ME, do I see a white vinyl roof on that GTX?

That's got to be the most optioned 73/74 GTX I've come across! It looks like you've got a GTX badge on the bulge hood. Is there one on the dash above the glovebox? How about the trunk lid? A Road Runner emblem on the pillar? Any pics would be great!

268RTs4ME and Dodgeman55 - how original and unmodified are your cars? These are kind of rare birds. In the 5 years I've owned mine I've see no more than an dozen 73/74 RR/GTX/Sat in person. That includes the Woodward Dream Cruise and the Nationals. I would love to spend a few hours checking out and taking pics of a good original condition survivor. Not to try to emulate - I would just like to know.

:TO 268RTs4ME What colors your interior, Is it floor shift and does it have the A88 interior decor package is steering wheel S84 Tuff or not?

Re: 73 Road Runner - ongoing project - 11/16/09 01:36 PM

Yes A88 decor group, all white interior with black carpet, does not have tuff well. I am looking for some good quarters, like every body else is, has lower rust in quarters. Has console floor shift. 150 speedo and tach, and guages.
