Re: 65 Satellite Bracket car - 06/20/19 08:45 PM

I just lost 2 paragraphs...Looking for help on advice for making 3780# go 10.35 again, or faster. I have the engine on the stand. currently a 252/258/ .630/.630 with 1.5 ratio. Solid roller ported 915's. this engine was taken in trade from a guy that ran it in "pinks". We have no baseline with this engine. Thanks for helping out. Been building engines for 40 years, just not many rb engines..

Pistons in the hole .005 average. KB Claimer hyper pistons...They claim 11.5 with this head. If we are running 108, why not go to 12.5-13 to 1?

What rear gears and what type of transmission type of suspension is under it. I only ask because with the weight of the car might be a little tuff with steel heads, what intake and carb was on there.

He's ready to replace heads with aluminum. not sure which ones yet, seems all will require different rockers?

Trick flow seems to be the best bang for the buck and I believe you can still use the rockerarms that are in the picture.... might try to move this thread to the racer section alot of helpful people on there. Is this a stock stroke motor?

Get some good-flowing Alum heads to feed it. 108 octane should be OK with 12.5:1, I run 110 with 13.0:1 & alum heads, just watch total timing.
Pay particular attention to setting up the rocker/spring geometry.
Also check the Tech Archives here, as there are several 440 recipes - look at the very top tool bar on the right.

The 915 heads are great heads with 2.14/1.81 valves. Dump that Team G intake and use an Edelbrock Victor 440. We run a similar set up but run a Crane roller cam with .700/.718 lift, 12.8 compression. 3,000 pound Dart runs 10.03/131 mph using old iron rockers and a 1050 carb. We ported the heads to the point of nearly running out of metal on the valley tray at the ports, just use paper gaskets along with the valley tray. You can cut some of the paper gaskets away too.
