Looks sweet! What's the story on the car? Where did it come from? How long have you owned it? How long have you been working on it? What sheetmetal did you replace if any?
Good looking project.. Will look great with that big chrome air cleaner in between those red fenders.
Thanks, I've owed the car for about 12yrs. Got it out of New Mexico, motor spun a bearing in 1974, they took the motor out and the car was parked ever since. It's got 54,000 original miles, two owner car. It was a hard 54,000 miles. Car was hit it left front and rear quarter. It was a 70's repair where they cut the frame rail and just welded it up. Quarter was replaced with about the same quality of repair. I replaced the entire frame section from another new mexico car and had a quarter put on to fix the gap and door jam area. The entire rest of the car is the original metal including floors and trunk pan. No pitting at all and in great shape.
thanks, the original 440 is lone gone when they pulled it back in the 70's. So I figured a Hemi would be the next best thing. I'm trying to keep it period correct and as origional appearing as possible. 4-speed and Dana are original to the car with just some re-freshing as everything has been sitting for 40 yrs. I did switch over the bell housing and starter to a Hemi bell w/ direct drive starter to keep with the period correct idea.

That sounds like pretty cool color combination. Your car looks great so far
nice car glad to here you are employing a Hemi! will be a great car!! love the R-6.
Thanks, I agree. The car had a vinyl pearl white top. It should look pretty cool once I get it back on. Also putting on the white reflective strip just below the chrome belt molding.
Can't wait to get the Hemi in. That's this winters project. The paint came out great, bloody red!!

WOW,
I used to own a R6 red - red int 4 spd 1969 GTX .
But mine didn't have a vinyl top. and was pretty much a stripped down no options car.

Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate it. Yes, I will paint black on the radiator support behind the grill, that's next on the list of things to do.

Nice...
Woodward this summer???
Was able to finally get some of the glass back into the car. Here are the vent windows and frames and door glass. I'm still waiting on the quarter window trim to come back from the buffer, hopefully I'll get that next week and can finish up with the door glass.
Here is the other side vent. I was lucky the frames were in great original shape, just needed a light buffing.
Here is the steering wheel installed. The wheel is still the original color and was not restored. But was in great shape. The colors a little off from the rest of the dash.

Great car, I love the color combo with the white top
Thanks guy's I appreciate it. It's been taking awhile, but so far it's been worth the wait. I can't wait to get the top done to see how it looks against all that red. I have the quarter trim back from the plater/buffer and they turned out great. I hope to get these in this weekend and finish up the door planels, arm rest pads and window felts in, then it will be ready to go off to have the headliner and top installed. Then dynomate, carpet, seat belts, seats, rear interior panels and window trim and the interior will be finally done.

WOW! VERY NICE!! Love the RED....... I have a 69 RR that I hope to start on over the winter.... I like the dolly you have the body mounted to...Got any pix of it?
No sorry, just what's in the pictures. The body just sat on it. It as on the shock brace and the front frame rails by the torsion bar cross member. It was very cool for rolling around the shop.
Found one picture that shows a little more of the dolly, hope this helps.
Finishing touches on the doors,

Did you re-plate all the door hardware?
Yeah, I replated all of the door hardware. for that matter, I replated everything on the entire car. I replated every nut and bolt, even the ones no one will ever see. My friends call it the brand new 1969 Plymouth.

Thanks Dave, when people look at my car, most think I'm crazy to. They can't really understand why I went to the lengths I have on my car. The devils in the details.

What did you end up doing for the tail lite and trunk bezels? Re-plate or re-pops?
Both the tail lights and tail panel are the originals and both replated. There was little to no pitting on either, so they turned out pretty nice. Not looking forward to painting them. Lots of masking off to do. I'll post some pics when I get them done.

Re: sixty9 gTx - 03/27/14 07:08 PM
looka good. My dad and I just went to Idaho to pick up a A4 silver in and out 69 GTX that needs to be done from the ground up. Thanks for the nice pics so far.
I almost went with an A4 car too, but it had the R6 red interior. That will be a sweet car when done. I always liked the A4 silver interior. I remember a 69 Hemi roadrunner that was white, black vinyl top and blk hood strips and it had the A4 silver interior, it was a sweet car. Missed out on that car. Not too many with the silver guts....

Re: sixty9 gTx - 09/22/14 04:25 PM
Very well done. It sure seems to be coming along nicely. I am sure it must really "pop" in person.
Thanks, I haven't had it in the sun since it's been painted, but yeah it should look pretty good. The color is deep inside under the lights, should look even better in the sun. As soon as the vinyl top is on, I'm pulling it out to see how it looks.

Re: sixty9 gTx - 10/03/19 01:49 AM
WOW....... nice car.
I looked at that exact color combination A LONG time ago at the nats. except it was an original Hemi car.
I tried my best to buy it then but couldn't get the money together fast enough. Car was painted red with LOTS of metallic in the paint. But was an original R6 red / red interior hemi 4 spd car. but the hemi was missing.
To this day I wonder where that car ended up.
A few years later I did buy another 1969 GTX Red with red interior 440 4 spd car ( no vinyl top ) But sold it many years ago, last I heard that car went to Jersey and never heard about it again
Thanks, its cominh along.
Thanks. I havent seen another one thats red on red w/ pearl white top. I too seen the red on red hemi 4-speed on the east coast for sale a few years back. Ive seen 3 red on red no vinyl top over the last 30 years, all them had black out hood treatment.. And i seen one red exterior, pewter interior with pearl white top, pretty nice looking combo.
back on the road again.

What a combo. There was a red on pewter with four speed for sale this year, but I couldn’t swing it that very second. The red combos are awesome.

Great color,
