Jim, I try my best to answer this one.
This car started off in a very similar condition, EXCEPT it was a roller. Thus had all the suspension and steering components.
I put both quarter panels, trunk floor and both extensions, both front and rear valance,, the tail light panel. the dutchman panel , the outer skin on the pass side A pillar , pass side of the firewall, entire upper cowl and floorpans on both sides of the trans tunnel ( full floors were not avail yet when the owner bought the car) driver side fender came from AMD, pass side was a clean original. You get the drift, it was rough.
I did it all except final body work and paint. Engine, trans and 4.10 Dana axle was purchased already done and got a helluva deal
At the time my shop rate was cheap at $45 an hour
We advised him not to buy and it that it would be rougher than it appeared, and it looked rough in person. BUT, he wanted a real 1968 Charger RT , 440 4psd car. And at the time costs to buy one done was not possible.
I asked him about a year after it was done if he had added the invoices. His reply was he started to but he quit adding when the total exceeded $70k . there were still quite a few to add but decided he really didn't want to know.
And that about 7 or 8 years back. I think.
Cars AND parts prices are considerably more today than they were 10 years ago when I was doing the charger. NO way would I consider taking on a project car in todays market. Partially based on prices and my age. We aint 30 years old anymore.
Keeping in mind 1970 Coronet parts are a good bit tougher to find than 1968 Charger pieces
So, based on that. This V code Superbee will be under water even in todays market if the new owner got it for free and did all the work themselves .
So, to answer whats a fair offer the way it sits. Thats going to be a different number for each and every one interested.
Myself, wouldn't take it for free with the condition that I had to do the car and not junk the hulk.
Ps, the Charger is going up for sale this fall. The owner has decided he's tired of the 4 spd, 4.10 Dana and high test fuel requirements. As to how much, I have NO idea. Thats for him to decide over the summer
He wants nice driver, thats auto ,and working A/C
