Good idea. I, for one, would like to do that.

How difficult is that?

The guy is selling the motor and trans only, has 40,000 miles on it, trans was rebuilt with all the updates. Asking $1000 for the motor & trans, no wiring or computers.
The pictures shows the smashed side of the rear wheel drive Dakota, and several pictures of the motor & trans bolted together sitting on the garage floor. Motor looks clean, but you are taking his word on the "about 40,000 miles"..

Trans sure is dirty for only having 500 miles on it from being rebuilt, I would think being rebuilt it would start out as a nice clean case, unless it was rebuilt in the car lol

Are you using a phone?
If so it gets complex. (I despise surfing with cell phones because of these things)

Funny, Thats the 1st thing I thought.

Even as a warranty tech. I still made the case as clean as possible inside and out.

First I click on the pics to get the bigger version, then I right click on them to open it in its own tab. From there, I right click on the pic and choose 'save as' to save them on my computer (either under the download file or a specially created file). I don't leave the pics on my computer forever, just a few months or whatever, then I go thru and clean house. Once you have the pics saved, use the attachment manager to choose up to 4 pics to post. The pics show up after you submit the response, so don't wig-out if you don't see them at first.

The text from the ad is just a matter of copy and paste. I usually have to edit it to tighten things up as it usually pastes as one long sentence. Not mandatory, just easier to look at a tight paragraph than a long line. Adding bold or italic is just a matter of highlighting a word (or sentence or paragraph) and clicking on bold or italic and it will automatically be added.

If pics are too big or have a lot of background crap, just use the snipping tool on the pic when you open it in its own tab, then go thru the 'save as' process.

After a few posts, it becomes second nature.

Hope this made sense.

Why would a 40k original mile truck need a transmission rebuild anyway

That intake is around 800.00 from Huges.

These trucks got hammered on hard. For some reason messing with the throttle valve cable was the trick of the week to change shift points, but a trashed trans happened instead.

That intake manifold is an MP M-1 2bbl, and has gotten hard to find. Especially the non-egr versions.

I dont get all the controversy. Isnt 1k not a huge jump over parts worth or core prices?

I don't get it either. That price is in the ballpark.

Re: '99 Dakota R/T w/40K totalled, 360 and tranny; $1,000 - 03/03/24 09:13 PM

I offered 400 for the intake, and he was happy about it.
he didn't want to sell the whole assembly but figured that was the best way to get money quick.
but 400 was enough for what he needed cash for at the moment, so he said yes and will hopefully ship tomorrow.
will see.
I think that is a fair price based on what I saw looking around, and better than paying for the hughes one on a stock motor.

lol, guess it was a scam. no comms after getting my money.
should have known better after I looked up the wreck. small town so the police blotter showed the guy was arrested for reckless driving and fleeing the scene.
contesting with paypal now. will see how it goes.

Lets hope it pans out and your intake shows up.

Looks like the ad is still up. News, bad news travels fast in small towns so lets hope hes not a 100% dirtball and you get your intake.

Re: '99 Dakota R/T w/40K totalled, 360 and tranny; $1,000 - 03/06/24 04:54 PM

yeah, he took it down, as sold, that gave me a rate him thing then put it back up about 2 hours later. next day he listed 2 more things.
so not like he isn't looking at facebook messenger and just "missed" my messages.
his girlfriend picked up the phone last night and said he was busy. never called back, and I left a message about doing a charge back if I didn't hear back. so will see how paypal handles it first. then credit card company after that.
